Here is how it works: You fill out a commitment form indicating you will donate $100 three times a year to the local not-for-profit organization of the group's majority choice. (You can also form a team of up to 4 people that shares a $100 vote)
Any member who is interested in presenting a charity for consideration to the group puts her name and the organization she is nominating on another slip o

f paper and puts it into the basket. Only active members may present a charity to the group. All charities must be local 501(c)3 certified (unless otherwise specifically stated to the group). At the beginning of each meeting 3 organizations are chosen at random from the basket. If you are chosen to present your organization to the group you have 5 minutes to give your speech and 5 minutes for questions. After all 3 members have presented we each write our choice on our slip of paper and they are collected and tallied. Whichever organization gets the most votes becomes that trimesters recipient and each member writes a check directly to that organization for $100. If you are unable to attend a meeting you will still send your check with another member or mail it to the group leaders as per your agreement in signing the Commitment Form. Also at each meeting we have a brief presentation from the previous recipient as to how the money has been or will be used. You can put your name in to present a not-for-profit organization to the group every time or not at all. If you get the opportunity to present your organization and it is not chosen, you can sign up at subsequent meetings to present.
