Come check out the Twinsburg/Macedonia Fire Explorers Program! Our program gives young people the opportunity to learn about the fire service, gain hands-on experience, and get their feet wet in the world of firefighting and EMS. It’s a great way to see if this career is right for them while building valuable skills and experience for their future.

C-shift getting after it this morning with some high-angle rescue training. Led by FF Grimm, who is a member of the Summit County technical rescue team, members of Macedonia Fire went over rope systems and scenarios for hauling patients out of precarious situations. As Macedonia Fire responds to portions of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, members will initiate rescue efforts prior to the arrival of the technical rescue teams.

🏔️🌲TIPS FOR HIKING 🌲⛰️

👟: Let someone know where you’re going, and your expected time back
👟: KNOW YOUR LIMITATIONS! Remember, the distance that you hike IN, is also the same distance that you need to hike OUT
👟: STAY HYDRATED! 💦 With the heat and humidity, water is a must.
👟: Stick to marked trails and platforms. While we encourage you to get out and enjoy nature, stay to designated trails and pathways. Or you may find yourself stuck at the bottom of a waterfall, and a member of our department will be taking a swim in Brandywine Creek
👟: Manage your time. While summer affords us the maximum amount of sunlight, nighttime will roll in quickly. It’s easy to become disoriented in the dark

🇺🇸🇺🇸Happy Memorial Day! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Today we honor the sacrifice of those who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms.

So while we hope you have a fun (and safe!) time at your family cookouts, camping trips, or however you decide to celebrate, take a moment and remember the sacrifices that were made that allow us to celebrate this day.

Thank you to all Veterans and current military service members for your service!

As EMS Week comes to a close, it’s time for us to express our gratitude. In a profession built on service, we are constantly reminded that none of us do this job alone.

To the city that gives us the opportunity to serve this community every day: thank you for your trust, support, and investment in those who answer the call. It’s an honor to wear this patch and represent a city that stands behind its first responders.

To our families at home: thank you for the sacrifices that often go unseen. Thank you for the missed holidays, late nights, interrupted dinners, and for always being the steady support system that keeps us going. This job wouldn’t be possible without you.

To our crew: thank you for being more than coworkers. Thank you for the laughs during long shifts, the support on difficult calls, and for always having each other’s backs no matter the situation. There’s no other group of people we’d rather stand beside.

To our dispatchers: thank you for being the calm voice on the other end of the radio. You are the first first responders, gathering critical information, managing chaos from behind the scenes, and helping keep us safe before we even arrive on scene. Your work often goes unseen, but it never goes unappreciated.

To the law enforcement officers we work beside: thank you for your partnership, professionalism, and willingness to stand shoulder to shoulder with us on difficult calls and dangerous scenes. Public safety is truly a team effort, and we’re stronger because of the relationships we share. We may wear a different patch, but we hold the same line.

To our mutual aid departments and the departments across the state that we work alongside on specialty teams: thank you for your collaboration, professionalism, and shared commitment to serving others. Thank you for the fist bumps and the nudging elbows when we pass each other in the hallways at various hospitals. The finger waves and head nods when we drive by one another in the squads. We see you, we appreciate you, and we have your backs. Whether it’s on large-scale incidents, trainings, technical rescues, disaster responses, or long operational deployments, it’s an honor to work beside some of the most dedicated men and women in the fire service. The bonds built across departments and counties are a reminder that this profession is one big family.

And to the residents we serve: thank you for trusting us in some of the hardest moments of your lives. Being welcomed into your homes and entrusted with your safety is a responsibility we never take lightly.

This career is demanding, humbling, and sometimes exhausting, but it’s also one of the greatest privileges imaginable. We are grateful every day to serve alongside incredible people and for a community that makes it all worthwhile. ❤️🚒🚑

Saying thank you just isn’t enough to show how much we appreciate our dispatchers as Telecommunications Week comes to an end.

This is a job for snacks!

The Macedonia Firefighter’s Association put together and delivered a basket of snacks to help our dispatchers power through the rest of their week. Dispatch Supervisor Tracy Young took delivery of our gift this morning, looking far more beautiful than any of us do if we had to be on shift at 2 in the morning. (Honestly, we just roll out of bed, hope our boots are on the correct feet, and pray for the best)

Happy Telecommunications Week to the “first” first responders!
