As EMS Week comes to a close, it’s time for us to express our gratitude. In a profession built on service, we are constantly reminded that none of us do this job alone.
To the city that gives us the opportunity to serve this community every day: thank you for your trust, support, and investment in those who answer the call. It’s an honor to wear this patch and represent a city that stands behind its first responders.
To our families at home: thank you for the sacrifices that often go unseen. Thank you for the missed holidays, late nights, interrupted dinners, and for always being the steady support system that keeps us going. This job wouldn’t be possible without you.
To our crew: thank you for being more than coworkers. Thank you for the laughs during long shifts, the support on difficult calls, and for always having each other’s backs no matter the situation. There’s no other group of people we’d rather stand beside.
To our dispatchers: thank you for being the calm voice on the other end of the radio. You are the first first responders, gathering critical information, managing chaos from behind the scenes, and helping keep us safe before we even arrive on scene. Your work often goes unseen, but it never goes unappreciated.
To the law enforcement officers we work beside: thank you for your partnership, professionalism, and willingness to stand shoulder to shoulder with us on difficult calls and dangerous scenes. Public safety is truly a team effort, and we’re stronger because of the relationships we share. We may wear a different patch, but we hold the same line.
To our mutual aid departments and the departments across the state that we work alongside on specialty teams: thank you for your collaboration, professionalism, and shared commitment to serving others. Thank you for the fist bumps and the nudging elbows when we pass each other in the hallways at various hospitals. The finger waves and head nods when we drive by one another in the squads. We see you, we appreciate you, and we have your backs. Whether it’s on large-scale incidents, trainings, technical rescues, disaster responses, or long operational deployments, it’s an honor to work beside some of the most dedicated men and women in the fire service. The bonds built across departments and counties are a reminder that this profession is one big family.
And to the residents we serve: thank you for trusting us in some of the hardest moments of your lives. Being welcomed into your homes and entrusted with your safety is a responsibility we never take lightly.
This career is demanding, humbling, and sometimes exhausting, but it’s also one of the greatest privileges imaginable. We are grateful every day to serve alongside incredible people and for a community that makes it all worthwhile. ❤️🚒🚑
