We’re honored to see Macedonia recognized as part of a feature on small-town murals, especially with our Loafers / Welcome mural included.

This mural was created to celebrate the everyday people, stories, and spirit that make Donia special.

Thank you The 29th State for including our mural as an example of the awesome murals found in rural Iowa.

The Murals Committee is proud and grateful to have been part of a project that celebrates the stories, people, and spirit of our hometown. Reflections of Macedonia brings our history to life right on Main Street — a beautiful reminder of the faces, memories, and moments that built this community. A huge thank you for the generosity of Iowa West Foundation, Macedonia Hamilton Development Corp, Macedonia Community Church, City of Macedonia and many friends and supporters.

Tomorrow! Mural Unveiling in Macedonia!!!

Join us Friday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 PM as members of the Macedonia Hamilton Development Corp. unveil Reflections of Macedonia — a pictorial historical story walk on Main Street!

Where: Main Street, Macedonia
What: 13 freestanding panels showcasing vintage photographs of our town’s people, places, and moments.

Bonus! The Amigos Food Truck will be parked on Main Street, so come hungry and enjoy some great eats while you take in the new art.

While you’re downtown, take a stroll to see last year’s murals:

The giant “Welcome/Loafers” mural on City Hall

Window portraits of three community leaders (also on City Hall)

“Pack the Grandstand” mural on the Stempel Bird Museum

Then keep the arts vibe going—jump into the 12th Annual Southwest Iowa Art Tour and stop by the Painted Camel Gallery right here in Macedonia.

Bring a friend, bring a camera, and come celebrate our stories—past and present—on Main Street!
