Victor-Farmington Rotary hosted Sunday a mid-winter brunch for both inbound and outbound Rotary Youth Exchange (YEX) students. 16 inbound students from around the world were present, as well as 5 outbound students from Rotary District 7120, who will be departing this summer for their year abroad. Youth Exchange Chair, Pam Schlerf, welcomed the group that also included members of outbound student families and Rotex (former YEX) members. After the meal and the preliminary greetings and introductions were completed, YEX committee members and host families met in a separate area for informational and business issues, while the students remained in the main ballroom for games and fun. This included receiving their commemorative shirts, decorating Valentine cookies, and preparing Valentine cards for local veterans. Rotarian Kim Yourch assisted the students with their projects. District Governor Jim Crane delivered brief remarks welcoming the group. Ed Hemminger, Commander for the local AMVETS organization, made brief comments explaining why Americans honor military veterans.

In the words of our dear friend, Karen Parkhurst, whom we miss dearly, “We are the best little club around!” Thank you to YOU, Victor and Farmington community members, for helping us collect and deliver approximately 1300 gifts to children and seniors in our area. Yesterday, Victor-Farmington Rotarians joined with staff and volunteers from the Victor-Farmington library to provide children from the local community the opportunity to select a variety of books, toys, novelties, etc. to make their Christmas a little more joyous. The event was a great success and continues to grow as an annual event.

Victor-Farmington Rotarians assembled 180 stockings with toys, coloring books, stuffed animals, and candy, to make things a little brighter for children in our area. 130 stockings were delivered to Friendship House in Middlesex Valley and 50 stockings were delivered to Wilson Commencement Park in Rochester.
