Thank you very much to Commissioner Chairwoman Cupid and Cobb County Parks Dept for hosting the Annual International Festival at Jim Miller Park. All attendees had a chance to enjoy the different cultures, food and entertainment that comprise our community. It was a wonderful event. We appreciate your hard work in getting this event organized.

We appreciate the Cooper Family who also owns the local GoGo Party Bus in Mableton who cleaned up their adopted mile on Hunnicut Road. With a little help from the South Cobb Lions Club and Friends of Mableton, we cleaned removed litter from nearby Felton Lane and Queensferry Road. We got an early start to avoid the heat.

The South Cobb Lions Club is very grateful to East Cobb Lions Club President, Dennis Sewell, who spoke to us about Tunnels To Towers. Dennis told us about the history of Tunnels To Towers and their evolution to Tunnels To Towers villages. The facility located near Six Flags was the second hotel converted into a village in the US. The cost to live at the village is $900 a month which is covered by military benefits. The cost includes all utilities, internet, a workout room, counseling, bus passes and some food that comes from donations. The 88 rooms that are in the village include a kitchenette. The East Cobb Lions Club provided new pots and pans for this facility. There are rooms available for veterans. Dennis named a couple of examples of vets living in their cars who have recently moved in the village. There are many more villages planned including a location in Savannah. Dennis feels that the most valuable benefit of these Tunnels To Towers villages is veterans having people to talk to about their experiences. The Atlanta Latino and South Cobb Lions under the direction of Lion Vanessa worked together to screen 291 students at the Kinderezi West Elementary School in Southwest Atlanta. The GA Lions Lighthouse staff was present to conduct further testing on students who did not pass the initial screening. Students who need eyeglasses were able to pick out their eyeglass frames. The frames with completed eyeglass subscriptions will be delivered back to the school as soon as the Lighthouse can get them completed. We appreciate the school nurse and staff who were very organized and kind.

Boy Scout Troop # 22 conducted their quarterly cleanup of their adopted mile on Cooper Lake Road in Mableton. They along with a little help from the South Cobb Lions Club removed a dozen bags of litter from their mile.

In order to keep the event fun and competitive, scout activity leader Kelly, awards awesome snack prizes for the largest, grossest, most unusual and coolest items found during the cleanup.

We appreciate Boy Scout Troop #22 and their families for their dedication to keeping their Adopt-A-Mile looking great.

Over the past several weeks, the Mableton Clean Team (consisting of volunteers from the South Cobb Lions Club, MIC, Historic Mableton Neighbors and Friends of Mableton) have been working together to remove litter from our streets. This week, we removed 29 bags of litter from Pinecrest Road, Burrus Lane, Fontaine Road, Front Street and Lions Club Drive.

We have plenty of room for new Mableton Clean Team members. Attached is a list of upcoming litter cleanups. We will have all of the supplies with us.
