Mabank Police Department – Incident Update

On Thursday, September 3, 2026, the Mabank Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of North Third Street in reference to a disturbance that had occurred at a residence.

Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect was possibly barricaded inside the residence. As the investigation progressed, the Mabank Police Department was assisted by several nearby law enforcement agencies.

A short time later, officers determined that the suspect had fled the residence on foot prior to their arrival. Officers subsequently located the suspect near the intersection of Highway 175 and Highway 198, where he was taken into custody without incident.

The Mabank Police Department would like to assure the public that there is no threat to the community and there are no additional suspects at large related to this incident.

We appreciate the assistance and cooperation of the surrounding law enforcement agencies and the patience of our community while officers worked to safely resolve the situation.

🚨 SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW — SCHOOL ZONE SAFETY REMINDER 🚨

The Mabank Police Department would like to remind everyone that with the start of the new school year tomorrow, our officers will be actively working school zones and monitoring traffic to help ensure the safety of our students, parents, teachers, and staff.

Please be patient, slow down, stay alert, and be mindful of school zone traffic. We will be watching for unsafe and reckless driving behaviors, and officers will take appropriate enforcement action when necessary.

We understand that the first few days of school can bring increased traffic and longer wait times. Please plan accordingly and allow yourself extra time to reach your destination.
Most importantly, we want everyone to arrive at their destination safely.

The Mabank Police Department is proud to serve our community, and we love our kids and the Mabank Independent School District. We will continue working hard to help keep our students safe.

Charlie's funeral service is open to the public, and we invite all who wish to pay their respects and honor his life, service, and sacrifice to join us.
Additional information regarding parking and traffic arrangements will be provided in the coming days.
Thank you for the incredible outpouring of love, prayers, and support shown to Charlie's family, the Mabank Fire Department, and the Mabank Police Department. Your kindness and compassion mean more than words can express as we honor a true hero.

🇺🇸 Honoring Charlie Woodard 🇺🇸
On Tuesday, June 30, Charlie Woodard will be brought home to Mabank.
The procession is expected to arrive in Mabank at approximately 11:00 a.m. and will exit U.S. Highway 175 onto State Highway 198, traveling south to Mason Street.
We invite anyone who would like to pay their respects to Charlie to safely line the procession route from Highway 175 to Mason Street as we honor his life, service, and dedication to our community.
We ask everyone to be mindful of traffic, follow the directions of public safety personnel, and help us ensure a safe and respectful procession for Charlie, his family, and all those who loved him.
Thank you for the overwhelming love, prayers, and support you have shown the Woodard family, Mabank Fire & Rescue, and the Mabank Police Department during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements for Charlie will be announced in the near future as they become available.

Public notification!

Recently ours officers were able to locate and apprehend some suspects committing various car burglaries, potentially in the Cedar Creek Lake area. During the arrest, one suspect informed officers that a gaming console he was in possession of was stolen from a vehicle. Due to the amount of vehicles burglarized, the suspect was unable to tell officers where it came from.

If you were a victim of a vehicle burglary and are missing a gaming console please contact our office 903-887-8500 press 1 to speak with a dispatcher.

No details of the console will be provided in order to verify rightful ownership.
