Lady is a really nice 2-3yr old spayed malinois. We evaluated her this morning for TX Malinois Alliance Rescue. Lady is friendly with new people, confident in new places, and has tons of toy drive. Her toy possession is great and she hunts independently for her toy in new places. We think Lady can really excel in detection, SAR, or sport placement.

Lady’s fosters report she’s crate trained and well behaved in the house. She gets along with other dogs with careful introductions but can be pushy if allowed. She has shown no signs of storm or noise phobias.

Bexar is a 2yr old ~50lb ridgeback mix currently in foster care. We evaluated him this week and unfortunately he does not have quite enough toy drive and focus for our program. Bexar is friendly with new people, confident in new places, and happy to travel. He does have some toy drive and likes playing tug and loves squeaky toys. Bexar will return at a sprint when he hears the squeak. His foster did report that he can be dog selective and does better with female dogs. Bexar would make a great active pet or potential sport partner for someone.

Pixel was medically washed out of our Shelter to Search Program a year ago. He has been looking for a home of his own ever since and has not had a single inquiry or show of interest. Pixel is a 30lb 3-4yr old neutered border collie mix with all the drive of a working dog but the willingness to snuggle on a couch for the rest of his days. He is house broken, crate trained, travels well in a kennel, is well behaved in the house and just needs to find the right home. Pixel does not have an adoption fee but interested adopters do need to complete our adoption application. Category 5 K9 also offers adoption trials to make sure our dogs are a good fit. Please share Pixel to help him find his perfect home.

Shelter to Search Alumni Canyon went to DC to represent working dogs and support our amazing friends at Texas A&M Veterinary Emergency Team to get support expanding their amazing model for future disaster response across the country. Good job Canyon!

Taz had his last chemo session today and got to ring the bell! Doc said he’s cancer free. Huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped support K9 Taz’s treatment and recovery!

We evaluated this handsome boy Atlas. He unfortunately does not have any toy drive when in a new location with enticing smells and not a fit for our program. However he’s extremely food motivated, even in the face of distractions. Confident in new places, recovers quickly when startled, and friendly when meeting strangers. He had no concerns about an air horn, just showed curiosity, has had no noise or storm phobias at home. Atlas is a neutered 1yr old shepherd mix and though he isn’t a candidate for us, he may be a potential service dog candidate or is an excellent candidate as an adventure or running partner.

Atlas tolerated having his feet, ears, tail, and muzzle messed with by a stranger. He is very polite about taking treats. Please message the page and we will give you contact information for his current foster.

Big news for K9’s Alley (CAT5 Tornado Alley) and Trooper (CAT5 Storm Trooper), two of the Mystery x Spry puppies that we raised, both passed their FEMA Certification Evaluations for Human Remains Detection this week. Congratulations to both new teams!

Let's congratulate Team Alley! They passed their FSA this week - it includes testing on obedience, agility, directional control and search! This means they are halfway through their FEMA certification series. Way to go Alley and Macie Thompson!
