KARE was founded by a veterinarian and her husband to provide life saving intervention for animals in need.

Recently, our organization helped fund the treatment of two young puppies diagnosed with parvovirus. We are thrilled to say that both puppies survived and are continuing to recover.

Their recovery is a testament to the dedication, compassion, and expertise of Dr. Lowe, the veterinarian who runs our rescue. Treating parvo is never easy as there is no cure. There is only intensive supportive care, constant monitoring, and a great deal of patience and hope. It takes long hours and an unwavering commitment to give these puppies the best chance at survival. Dr. Lowe poured her heart into their care, and we are so grateful for everything she did to help them pull through.

Parvovirus is one of the most dangerous and contagious diseases affecting puppies, but it is also largely preventable. Keeping puppies up to date on their vaccinations and avoiding exposure to high-risk environments before they are fully vaccinated are the best ways to protect them.

We are proud that, with the support of our community, we were able to help make this lifesaving care possible. Thank you for standing with us and helping give animals the second chance they deserve.

Shoutout to Bear, our Pet of the Month this August!! 🐾

"When Bear was found he was frail and in desperate need of care. He was bottle fed around the clock until he gained the strength to receive further medical treatment. It was a tough and uncertain few months. Thanks to his incredible will to live and the love of those who cared for him, he pulled through. Today, he's thriving in the most wonderful home, surrounded by warmth, safety, and the love he so deeply deserves. He's a cutiepatootio and the sweetest baby boy. Either running around the house chasing a bird toy or curled up on my lap, Bear owns the house and his mom’s heart."

"We adopted J.T. from K.A.RE. over 8 years ago. He's such an amazing part of our family! J.T. is a big talker and is always more than happy to tell you what's on his mind. He loves to stroll downtown and pop his head in all the shops that offer treats. His best friend is his cousin Duke, who was adopted from a local shelter. J.T. is crazy for his soccer balls and his boomerang frisbee. But his favorite of all is his lamby, which he suckles on every night. (It’s so cute) We’re always so grateful to K.A.R.E. for bringing him into our lives."

"Buckaroo was my favorite foster fail! What can I say, I'm a sucker for kittens, especially this one. Buckaroo was a special kitty. He charmed everyone who met him! With his calm and easy going manner, he got along beautifully with the other five cats and the two dogs that also lived in the household. Sadly, his life ended way too soon. His memory lives on!"

We are ecstatic to announce that Sausage McPuffin has officially been adopted!! 🐈‍⬛🐾🧡

When he first came to us, his story was a heartbreaking one. We suspect he had been thrown from a car, and he arrived with a serious leg injury that required surgery. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to get him the care he needed, and he handled his recovery with incredible strength.

Once he was ready, we made it our mission to find him the perfect home…and we’re so happy to say we did. He has officially been adopted into his forever family, where he’s already settling in and getting all the love he deserves.

Stories like his are only possible because of support from people like you. Thank YOU for helping turn such a difficult beginning into a truly happy ending.

"Sally came to us through another local foster organization, and she has helped raise several KARE Kittens. Sally takes her "Kitten Nanny" job very seriously.
