Dear Friends and Family,
As we head into the end of October, please consider joining with me in another mission to support veterans with psychiatric disabilities, including PTSD.
On Sunday the 30th, I will be in Washington DC to run the Marine Corps Marathon. I am using the occasion to raise funds for the Habitat PLUS organization in Lynn, Massachusetts. Some of you may recall that I did this same project a couple of years ago. It was a major success, raising over $7,000. Thank you to all of you who were able to participate in that effort.
Habitat PLUS is non-profit residential program for veterans with psychiatric disabilities. I have worked with them for years and can tell you that this is a wonderfully effective and efficient organization that delivers essential services to the veterans who need them. If you can take a few minutes, you can read a more detailed description of what they do below.
As this is my own personal fundraising project, there's ZERO overhead. All funds go straight from the generous donor (YOU) to the Habitat PLUS to provide housing, food and care for the veterans housed there. Below is more detailed information about Habitat PLUS.
If you can support this with a donation of $1 per mile (a marathon is 26.2 miles!), that would be terrific. If you can do more, BRAVO. If you prefer to donate to a veteran's group or charity in your own community, that's great too. Please let me know about it. I have added some suggestions below.
