Today was an incredible day! We brought people from all over the community of Lynn to say thank you for the work they do to help those with food insecurity. We had members from churches, local non-profit organizations, restaurant owners, and schools in Lynn.

We had so much fun appreciating the work they do by giving them a hands-on experience to remember all the good they do, a brunch, and a special award! It is always so great to appreciate those who are doing the good work, and our SkillsUSA organization was honored to honor them!

Students from LVTI Skillsusa helped serve lunch last week.

They jumped right in — making sandwiches, welcoming guests, and keeping the line moving. Leadership through service in action.

Meet⭐️ Dana Hurley⭐️, a Senior in the Health Technologies and Assisting program and our SkillsUSA Chapter President!

As our first five-year chapter member, Dana exemplifies the mission of SkillsUSA, as a skilled professional, career-ready leader, and responsible community member. Alongside our leadership team, she leads the team and makes sure they are “United As One!”

During her 8th grade year, she was our first ever 8th grader to receive a national medal in the high school division! Dana has a total of 4 Gold State Medals and 2 Silver National Medals in American Spirit and Outstanding Chapter. Dana is a four-year recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award, an award issued from the office of the President of the United States.

At the Fall Leadership Conference, she was on the Champions Panel, where she talked about her experience with SkillsUSA Massachusetts.

Dana has received her CNA, First Aid/CPR, and OSHA certification and has finished all the modules for Career Essentials.

A notable accomplishment is that she is a recipient of the Posse Scholarship, where she plans to attend Union College and hopes to become a doctor or surgeon.

Dana is truly a model of excellence for Lynn Tech’s Chapter! We congratulate her as she continues to champion her future!

Meet ⭐️Karla Figueroa Turcios ⭐️ a senior in the Health Technologies and Assisting program and our SkillsUSA Chapter Historian and Social Committee Chairman!

As a four-year member of our chapter, Karla shows that her “Time Is Now!” From her freshman year, she made her mark by winning a Gold Medal in Career Choice Commentary and represented Massachusetts as a National Delegate! She later continued to compete in Outstanding Chapter.

Karla has earned her CNA license, along with her OSHA certification, a testament to her determination and unwavering commitment to her dream of leaving her impact on healthcare.

Her journey is the perfect example of turning a dream into reality, and we cannot wait to see Karla take the next step toward shaping her future as a skilled OB-GYN.
She has been acknowledged twice for her exceptional efforts towards the community by receiving the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

A huge honor in Karla’s road is being named a Christian A Herter Scholar, a prestigious award recognizing her expectational academic achievement and leadership, an honor few earn and one she carries with pride.

As she moves through her life, we celebrate every step she takes and every defining moment ahead. We cheer through the sidelines, knowing that Karla will continue to dance through life with passion!
