🐢🎨 Raise a glass for turtles!

We had so much fun sculpting Eastern Box Turtles with everyone Stubborn Mule Restaurant & Brewery. Thank you for hosting us, and to everyone who joined in to learn about these incredible reptiles while creating their own turtle masterpieces.

Did you know Eastern Box Turtles can live for over 50 years in the wild and often spend their entire lives in a surprisingly small home range!

Polk Central students are helping Box Turtles, one sticker at a time! 🐢

Over six weeks in our Turtle Tuesdays program, students explored Eastern Box Turtles through nature, art, journaling, and hands-on learning.

Then they turned what they learned into action by designing their own wildlife awareness stickers to help others care about Box Turtles.

And the best part? The students presented Champions for Wildlife with a donation from their sticker project to help support our mission!

We are so grateful to , Rebekah Morse, the wonderful teachers who made this possible, and every student who brought curiosity, creativity, and turtle-sized determination to the experience.

Together, we’re helping the next generation Explore. Create. Protect.

Still thinking about this wonderful day 💚

The Wild Through Their Eyes Art Exhibit was a meaningful celebration of art, wildlife, and community, and we're grateful for every person who helped make it possible. Thank you again Tryon Fine Arts Center, for making this possible.

From the incredible artwork created by local students to the conversations, connections, and shared appreciation for the natural world, this event was one we'll remember for a long time.

🐢 Small stickers. Big impact. We are so proud of these wildlife champions!

Wow, we are still feeling inspired by the creativity and talent showcased at the Wild Through Their Eyes Art Exhibit!

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us at the Wild Through Their Eyes Art Exhibit at the Tryon Fine Arts Center last month. It was a beautiful event filled with creativity, conversation, laughter, and community.

A special thank you to Tryon Fine Arts Center for partnering with us and generously sharing their beautiful space to bring this exhibit to life.

We are also incredibly grateful to FernLeaf Community Charter School, Polk County Schools, and Tryon Seventh Day Adventist School for welcoming us into their classrooms throughout this project.

A heartfelt thank you to all our amazing volunteers, and special recognition to David Riddle, Margie Ford, Vanessa Zimmer-Powell, Ellen Douglas, and Nancy Holmes. Your time, energy, and support helped make this event truly special.

And most importantly, thank you to the young artists who shared their creativity and reminded us all to see the world through a different lens.

Looking back on this exhibit, we are so grateful to everyone who helped make this exhibit so special, and we can’t wait to do it again soon!

Reassurance from Dad

The pups' exploration of the big world outside the den is encouraged by Red Wolf dads who are diligent teachers and caretakers. No new adventure seems impossible when Dad is there to provide security.

Photo by Matt Nierwienski at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, North Carolina. Matt reports that these five pups often head out in separate directions, challenging the parents' supervisory skills!

Red Wolf fans can now visit the Red Wolf habitat, but the Museum urges everyone to speak quietly if the pups are out and about.

Please consider a donation (it will be matched!) to the Red Wolf Coalition's Summer Fundraiser! https://www.mightycause.com/story/yudldf
