Come celebrate with us!🎉

You’re invited to join us for a party at Hazel’s Tap Room in East Burke. Wednesday, June 24th 6-9pm. Come mingle with current and past FFF families, teachers, and Board members while also hearing more about the vision for our “forever school” and how you can help us bring it to life!

Refreshments, music, and a cash bar will be provided.

While we love children, this event is intended just for adults.

A look back at our 25/26 school year (get the tissues!) We have some friends heading off on new adventures next year, while we’re so excited to continue with others in our new location! So many exciting things are still to come✨
A huge thank you, always, to and for such a magical space. We know our Kinglets campers can’t wait for another summer filled with fun in our favorite spots up here on the hill 🌿☀️

“My smile is so big it covers my eyes”

One of our Kinglets said this today on our walk, but do you think we got it on video??? NOPE! BUT we did capture all this PLAY this May 💚🐞☀️✨🌿We are so happy to see everything turn green again, hear the birds singing their spring songs, and enjoy all the beauty that springtime brings to the NEK!

Little bits from April to share ✨Coyotes have been spending their Thursday mornings playing field games and crafting, then head out to the village trails for the afternoon for exploration and free play. Meanwhile, up on the hill, our Kinglets have been walking a bit farther on our morning walks every day, reaching places we haven’t visited since the fall. As the school year wraps up later this month, it feels a little bittersweet - but mostly just really grateful for all we’ve shared this year 💚

We are writing to share an important update regarding the location of our 2026 Kinglets summer camp. Due to the complex and slow process of transferring our childcare licensing to a different space for the summer, we have learned from the state that we will not be able to hold our Kinglets camp at Thaddeus Stevens School this summer like we originally planned. Because of this, Kinglets summer camp will now be held at our current location (2074 Darling Hill Rd at the Wildflower) for the 2026 summer. This change ONLY affects our Kinglets camp. Coyote camp will remain at Thaddeus Stevens School.

Maintaining our licensed status is essential, as it ensures we can continue to provide high-quality care and remain eligible to accept childcare subsidies. While we know this differs from what was previously communicated, we are grateful to have a wonderful space where our youngest learners can continue to grow and explore. We also extend our sincere gratitude to The Wildflower for making it possible for us to stay and continue offering a nurturing, nature-based camp experience this summer.

Children will continue to enjoy access to sunny fields, wandering forests, and favorite outdoor play spaces that support creativity, exploration, and connection.

We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we work to ensure a safe, compliant, and enriching program for all.

Last Friday, our Kinglets embraced a sunny 20° day at Firefly Farm with incredible spirit gathering sap, climbing hills, greeting animals, and even putting on some lunchtime entertainment! Bundled up in layers with hand warmers and barn snack breaks, these 3–5 year old explorers showed just how capable, curious, and resilient they are.
Days later, we’re still hearing from families, teachers, and children about what a special and successful trip it was. For many, this was their very first field trip—and we hope it’s just the beginning of a lifelong connection to farms, nature, and the beauty of the NEK.
We loved welcoming families into a glimpse of our days, and sharing such a joyful, outdoor classroom experience together.
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing families for your support, and to Firefly Farm for making us feel so welcome 💛
