๐๐ Introducing the Mayfield Heights Police Department's Special Responders Program
The Mayfield Heights Police Department is proud to launch the Special Responders Program, a new community initiative designed to build positive relationships between first responders and adults with special needs.
For many individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, sensory sensitivities, communication challenges, or other special needs, an interaction with police or firefighters may first happen during an emergency. Our goal is to change that.
Through this four-week interactive program, participants and their parent or caregiver will:
๐ฎ Meet police officers and firefighters in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
๐ Explore police cruisers, fire trucks, and emergency equipment.
๐ค Build trust and confidence with the first responders who are here to help.
๐ Learn about emergency services through fun, hands-on activities.
By creating positive experiences before a crisis occurs, we're helping reduce fear, strengthen understanding, and build lasting relationships that benefit participants, their families, and our first responders.
