How lucky are we that Lynchburg is home to one of the most incredible makerspaces in the US?! For 10 years, this wonderfully creative community has supported our wild ideas, ambitious projects, and collaborative spirit—and we couldn’t be more grateful.

As we look back on how much Vector Space has grown, and ahead toward the ever exciting horizon, we celebrate! We celebrate the makers, artists, tinkerers, volunteers, community members, and the students served who made it all possible.

🎉 It's time to celebrate April's Maker of the Month! 🎉

This month, we get to cheer for a longtime member and an integral part of this community Tim Garnier!
Tim can usually be found here on weekends happily helping fellow makers, tackling projects that leave the rest of us scratching our heads, or—once spring rolls around—leading the charge and excitement behind Power Tools Racing. Tim is a diverse when it come to putting together his own projects, he could be making a shield or a sword or even gear that enhances his fishing prowess.
Recently, we have him to thank for helping solve and muscle through a long-standing facility issue that had been causing flooding above the loading dock. His willingness to jump in and help wherever needed is truly something special.

Tim, you make this makerspace and its community better! Thank you so much for being awesome.

This is your chance to bring the young people in your life to explore the teen programming that Vector Space has built over the last two years.
The great success of this program is measurable in the huge smiles across teens faces as they become an integral part of every aspect of the build — from software to mechanics to aesthetics. Never before have we seen teens engage readily and so joyfully in such rich teamwork!

Drop in anytime between 12:30 - 6:30 pm to see the team in action, meet the builders, and experience what makes this program so special.

First Friday is TONIGHT!

Join us for a boomerang build!
Participants will design and craft their very own wooden boomerang using woodshop tools and hands-on guidance from our team. Learn the basics of shaping, sanding, and balancing your piece — then join us for some fun in the grassy area as we test out your creation!
Everyone’s invited to join the fun. This project counts as a Junior Maker activity, designed to welcome young creators (with adult supervision) into the world of making.
We’ll be opening our doors to visitors — drop in anytime between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM to build your boomerang, tour our 23,000-square-foot makerspace, and discover what we’re all about.
Entry donations of $3 per participant are greatly appreciated — and always met with a smile.
Many thanks to the Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation for their support in making this educational event possible!

🧹✨Vector Space is sparkling ✨ 🧹 Thanks to some very motivated students from Liberty on Saturday and to our Shop Captains Alex K, Bonnie Black and Niemann Pest! We are so grateful to have had these wonderful students and captains on site for Libertys's LU Serve day. So much got done whether it was cleaning windows, sorting and organizing fabric or gardening. No matter how taxing or monotonous the jobs the volunteers jolly demeanor and readiness to help was unwavering. Thank you everyone!
