I have said this very statement to myself before. How could I, after all my failures and broken promises, once again approach God in prayer? I had nothing to offer. All I had to my name was a broken spirit and a hurting heart. Surely God would not want to hear from me.

However, it was in that moment that this Psalm of David came to mind. This Psalm is a particularly powerful one, as it was David’s prayer to God after he committed adultery. This is David, “man after God’s own heart” David, appointed King David. And he broke God’s law and sinned with another man’s wife. All he too had to offer was a broken spirit and heart. Yet he knew that was all God wanted from him.

It is not about being perfect or offering a perfect sacrifice. We are human and we just cannot give or atone enough to cover our iniquities. That’s why God sent Jesus.

Offer up your brokenness to God. He doesn’t despise it. He wants to show you His glory through it. And sister- PRAY. In everything, no matter how you feel or how far you think you are from God, PRAY. He hears you and He loves you.

Prayer is some powerful stuff.

We live in a world that LOVES to tell you who you are. But it’s all a lie.

The world says you are ALONE.
God says you are a part of HIS FAMILY.

The world says you are too BROKEN.
God says I have a PLAN for you.

The world says you do not BELONG.
God says I knew you before you were BORN.

The world says you are not SPECIAL.
God says you are SET APART.

The world says you aren’t WORTHY.
God says you have been FORGIVEN.

The world says you are UNLOVED.
God says LOVE Himself gave His life for you.

Don’t believe what the world says about you. You are who God says you are. Daughter, Heir, and Chosen. Loved, Forgiven, and Known.
