Since the beginning of Rock Steady Boxing at the YMCA of Central Virginia, Barb & Wendy have been showing up, serving others and making a difference.

Through Give Back Do Good, our community impact initiative, we tackle a critical need each month by collecting non-monetary donations to support local nonprofits and the people they serve.

For September, Rush Homes was our recipient! Today, we delivered the incredible collection of donations made possible by our YMCA members and community.

We’re so grateful to everyone who donated and helped make this collection possible. These donations will make a meaningful difference for the people who call Rush Homes home.

Move. Connect. Have Fun. 💙

Over the past few months, we’ve had the opportunity to welcome our community to several Adaptive Group Fitness Classes and we’ve loved every minute.

These classes are about more than fitness. They’re about creating a space where teens and adults with intellectual or physical disabilities can move, build confidence, connect with others, and have fun together.

This morning, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of September 11, Sergeant Jonathan Richey and Captain Josh Gryder of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office each completed 110 floors on the stair climber—more than 1,600 steps—while wearing 40 pounds of gear.

The climb took approximately 25 minutes, but its meaning reaches far beyond the time and distance. Their effort honored the first responders who climbed toward danger that morning and all those whose lives were lost or forever changed.

We remember their courage. We honor their sacrifice. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
