This week, the YMCA of Central Virginia celebrates 170 years of serving our community 💙

As one of the oldest nonprofits in Lynchburg, we’ve spent 170 years helping people connect, grow, and find their place at the Y. As we look back through these photos, we’re reminded that while buildings, programs, and faces may have changed, one thing has remained the same: people coming together.

This week is also Member Appreciation Week because we know we wouldn’t be here 170 years later without the generations of members, volunteers, donors, staff, and families who have called the Y home.

Thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to 170 years… and the next chapter ahead.

✔️ Hands-on water safety activities

Whether your child is headed to the pool, lake, river, or beach this summer, this is a great opportunity to build important water safety skills.
