Just wanted to share a link to Carrie Holland's obituary. On behalf of Roger and Carrie's family I also want to thank everyone once again for their contining kind thoughts and prayers.

Carrie M. Holland, 75, of Savannah, GA, formerly of Hilton Head passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 in Savannah. Carrie was born September 16, 1

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers for Greg's Mom, Carrie, and all of her family. I will be sure to share them with Roger and family when I get to Savannah. It is however with a heavy heart that I must share with you that Carrie Holland passed away late last night (Feb. 21) while in hospital. Family was with her at her side and I'm told she passed peacefully. Her soul is now reunited with the soul of her beautiful son, Greg, who she so dearly missed since his passing in 1994. And so I choose to believe she is happy, smiling, and at peace. Once funeral arrangements are made I will share them here. What a blessing to Carrie and Roger to have so many wonderful people take time to think of, and pray for, her... thank you again for your kindness and for your caring heart.

Dear friends, I am posting tonight to kindly ask that you each please take a moment to keep Greg's parents, Roger and Carrie, in your thoughts and in your loving prayers. I am not at liberty to share specific details, and truly do not know many details to share. What I do know is that Greg's sweet mom, Carrie, is in hospital, has had a cardiac event that has left her currently in a coma, and that the next 24-36 hours are critical to determining her chances at recovery. Please know that the Holland's are private people and so while I do ask that you please keep them in your thoughts and esp. in your prayers, I also ask that you respect their privacy and not share this news outside of this fb page by reposting elsewhere or by tweeting. I am traveling to Savannah tomorrow or Fri. to lend my support to Roger and members of their family. I will monitor this page and share with them the loving, caring, and kind wishes anyone wishes to post here in reply. I know full well that the Holland's truly value and appreciate the support the members of this group have shown in years past in honoring the memory of their only child, Greg, and in keeping the memory of Greg and the spirit of his kindness alive in the world. I thank you for taking the time to read this post and for keeping Greg's Mom and Dad in your thoughts, in your prayers, and in your hearts. I know we are all hoping and praying that her condition will improve by the grace of God's love. When I have more news I'll post an update.

Friends of the Greg Holland LC'89 Scholarship Golf Tourney... sources have told me this year's event is set for the weekend of September 29-30; hoping many of you can make it to Maryland and come together in good & fun fellowship with us on the links at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club. This year's event is less formal in nature than years past, but is sure to be a good time, all thanks to the leadership and efforts of Joe Milbauer. Joe created the event with a focus on LC Class of 1990, but I'm sure any and all are more than welcome. And now for a quick tourney update... LC has gotten the registration mailers out so keep an eye on those mailboxes folks b/c the postman should be delivering your invite to your house real soon. But if you're just itch'n to get registered (and we hope you are) then follow this link: https://www.connect.lynchburg.edu/hollandgolf to register online.

And here are the key dates to keep in mind as you plan to join the fun at this year's tourney... Tourney date is Saturday, August 22nd; RSVPs (online and by mail) by August 14th; and Best Western reservartions must be made by August 1st to get the $90/night deal. Now you know!

So why wait... as you rest and relax tomorrow from today's July 4 festivities and fireworks... take a moment to get your tourney plans squared away. And then reach out to a friend or a couple of friends and prod them to do the same.

The format is Capain's Choice and is open to golfers of all levels. Teams will be flighted based on the lowest handicap with winning team members receiving a prize. Individuals who sign up will be placed on a team.

Congratulations Austin (of Team Barbin... our 2014 Tournament Champions) on placing 2nd (tied) with a score of 151 in the Delaware state golf tournament!!!!

After shooting a 77 in round one, Murphy finished with a 69 to give him a total of 146 and a five-shot win

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all our friends!!! With the kickoff to 2015's summer season upon us please take a moment to "pencil" August 21 & 22 into your calendar for this year's Greg Holland Scholarship Golf Tournament. As tradition holds, we once again we will be at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club in Rising Sun, MD.

Thinking of our friend/brother on his birthday (3/23); remembering what a wonderful, fun-loving, kind and caring person/friend Greg was; and celebrating his life and how he enriched the lives of family, friends, and even those who never had the fortunate opportunity to meet and know him personally.
