Hey guys!

We have great, new opportunities for you all to get involved in!
MedsServe will be serving alongside the Be the Match Foundation on September 25th and 26th from 12PM - 5PM at the Jerry Falwell Library.
We are in need of at least 3-4 volunteer to help with our booth!

I highly encourage all you to get involved with serving your community and getting those CSER hours done with!

Additionally, we will be continuing our usual volunteer opportunities such as ParkView Community Mission every Saturday and Gleaning for the World with its dates listed in the previous post below.

Please keep in mind that you are welcomed to count any University approved CSER towards your hours with Medserve. The opportunities available to you are way more than enough to give you 20+ hours of CSER. Please be mindful and keep track of the hours and dates you have volunteered.

Hey guys!

We are partnering with Be The Match, an organization dedicated to bone marrow donation, on March 29 in Montevideo. We will be dividing into three shifts for this event: 9:30 - 11:30 (the extra 30 minutes are to help set up), 11:30-1:30, and 1:30 - 3:30 (the extra 30 minutes are to help clean up). As of now, we can probably take up to 6 volunteers per shift. These spots will be given out on a first come, first serve basis so please email Paige McEachen at [email protected] to reserve your spot and/or for any further questions! In addition, Be the Match has stressed their desire for more potential donors. Therefore, I would like to encourage you all to take a few minutes out of your day to do this. This does NOT mean you will be donating bone marrow at this time. It is simply providing a way for them to contact you if they find a match. As an incentive, you may record 2 hours of CSER if you choose to do so. Thanks guys!

Additionally, MedServe is under the umbrella of Campus Serve. You may join any of the campus serve events and count that as CSER. Campus serve meets at Demoss 1286 every Saturday morning at 9:45AM. This is also a great opportunity to get 2+ hours.

5.) Click on LU Serve (CSER)

8.) Find the number 565-001.

10.) Type your name, phone number, and then click submit for approval.

Hey guys!

The American Red Cross is hosting blood drives on campus for the following upcoming dates: 9/27, 10/17, 10/18, and 11/7. You may sign up to give blood at RedCrossBlood.org, using the sponsor code: Flames. If you choose to donate, you may receive two hours of CSER. Thank you!

Hey guys!

We have a few more opportunities for you all to get involved with serving the local community and gain CSER hours.

Gleaning For The World (GFTW) is a humanitarian organization which seeks to provide life-saving support to communities in critical need throughout the world. They provide surplus medical and essential supplies to humanitarian projects worldwide. GFTW believes that all God's children are created equal and deserve a compassionate and reliable source of critical supplies as GFTW is largely focused on sharing the love of Christ to those in need.
I highly encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and serve alongside this awesome organization.

Hey guys!

Welcome to the official LU MedServe page. Here are a few announcements for this week:

1) Tomorrow, the first service project that will be available is at Parkview Community Mission, a local food pantry. There will be two shifts—one from 8 AM to 12 PM and the other from 12 PM to 4 PM. We volunteer at this place almost every Saturday, and this would be a great way to earn easy CSER hours. The address is 2420 Memorial Ave, Lynchburg, VA 24501. We will be offering rides tomorrow for the first shift, and next week, we will be able accommodate rides for both shifts. Please contact our liaison, Caleb Lahr at [email protected] if you need a ride.

2) How to Sign Up for CSER: 1.) Go to assist on your splash page 2.) Click on student 3.) Click on registration 4.) Click on Fall 2018 5.) Click on LU Serve 6.) Click on LU Serve (CSER) 7.) Click on register for CSER 8.) Click the drop down menu and find the number 565-001. 9.) Go to the second drop down menu that says "supervisor" and find Noelle Edwards. 10.) Type your name, phone number, and then click submit for approval.

3) We will be partnering with other organizations, such as the Red Cross and Gleaning for World, for future MedServe events, and any suggestions or contact info for volunteer work would be greatly appreciated!

4) We are planning to order t-shirts (for all you broke college students who want free clothes) designed by our officers and will let you know when SGA approves our budget.
