October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The YWCA Central Virginia is partnering with Victim Witness Programs and other community partners to host Candlelight Vigils in the Central VA area. We hope you will attend one to help us honor and show support to those affected by domestic violence.

Victims in Virginia need your help! The Virginia Victim Assistance Network and The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance and Children's Advocacy Centers of Virginia are joining together to ask the state for adequate funding for Victim Witness Programs, DV and SA programs and Child Advocacy Centers - all critical services for victims of crime in Virginia.

The Coalition Against Domestic Violence is hosting our annual conference on Friday, October 27th! It will be held at The Virginian. This year, our focus in on trauma and the mental health of the survivor of violence as well as the trauma and the mental health of providers and anyone who care for or works with survivors of violence.

Below is the event link. Registration is $65. There are no fees to register online. Breakfast and lunch are included. Each attendee will also receive a free copy of the book, “Tending the Wound of Sexual Abuse” written for those have survived sexual abuse, anyone who has loved one who has experienced sexual abuse and/or anyone who works with survivors of sexual abuse.
