Tonight the Honorable Judge H. Cary Payne inducted 11 new CASA advocates! These advocates, along with two others who were inducted last Friday will serve children in the City of Lynchburg, Campbell County, and Nelson County.

We are always so moved at the power of an induction ceremony as we look at these advocates who are going to make a difference in the lives of so many children who need someone to show up for them.

MEET OUR BOARD: Dallas Mata

Dallas Mata joins CASA's Board of Directors with a strong belief in our mission and the life-changing impact of advocacy for children and families.

As Director of Marketing and Development at TruVine Portfolio of Companies, Dallas brings professional experience in marketing, branding, and development to our board.

Dallas was drawn to CASA because of the opportunity to support children during some of the most challenging times in their lives. He is excited to use his professional skills and community connections to help strengthen CASA's work and expand our impact.

A few fun facts about Dallas: he was named after the Dallas Cowboys, he and his wife have known each other since middle school, and they now have three children. He also has 67 tattoos!

Dallas also put his marketing skills to the test in a very hands-on way by starting a lemonade stand at age 30. What began as a marketing experiment became Dirty Lemon Co., a real business that launched successfully at a local festival and continues to grow.

We're grateful to have Dallas's creativity, energy, and marketing expertise on our board and look forward to all he will bring to CASA.

Celebrating 29 Years of Service to CASA!

Serving on a nonprofit board is a meaningful commitment of time, energy, and leadership. Today, we're celebrating four individuals who have generously shared all three with CASA of Central Virginia.

Recently, we had the pleasure of treating four retiring members of our Board of Directors, each of whom completed one or more terms of service, to lunch as a small token of our appreciation for their dedication to CASA.

Al Billingsly | 11 years
Joe Goude | 9 years, including service as Board Vice President and President
Kimberly Dyke-Harsley | 6 years
Rad Briley | 3 years

Together, they represent an incredible 29 years of service to our organization!

Each has contributed to CASA's mission in meaningful ways, helping guide our organization, strengthen our work, and ensure that children who have experienced abuse or neglect have someone advocating for their best interests.

While their time on our Board has come to an end, the impact of their leadership and commitment will continue to be felt for years to come.

Growing season for Mustaches for Kids - M4K Lynchburg is coming up in November, and CASA is looking for growers!

Grow a mustache, rally your friends and family to donate, and help support local children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Recruit your coworker, create your own team with friends, or grow on your own.

Today, October 8, is DAF Day, a national day of giving that encourages donors to put their charitable funds to work for causes they care about.

A gift from your DAF to CASA of Central Virginia helps children who have suffered abuse and neglect have a consistent adult by their side advocating for their best interests as they navigate uncertainty and the court system.

MEET OUR BOARD: Jacob Lemon

We're excited to welcome Jacob Lemon to the CASA of Central Virginia Board of Directors!

Jacob serves as a Director at EY and brings financial management skills, professional leadership experience, and a passion for CASA's mission to our board. He's excited to contribute his time and expertise to help ensure children who have experienced abuse or neglect have the support and advocacy they deserve.

Outside of work, you're likely to find Jacob cheering on the Hokies, tackling a project around the house, or enjoying a local concert or festival. Most importantly, he loves spending time with his family.

We're grateful to have Jacob on our team and look forward to the perspective and leadership he brings to CASA!
