On Thursday March 28th 11 Students and 3 Faculty and Staff from Lynchburg College Freshwater Ecology class removed 62 tires from the 1 mile stretch of Blackwater Creek from College Lake to Sandusky Park. Today 20 members of the Heritage High School Football Team along with their coaches and their favorite librarian carried those tires over a mile through the woods where they were stacked for recycling. In all 71 tires were removed from Blackwater Creek today! Thank you gentlemen, KLB, The City of Lynchburg department of Public Works and dept. of Water Resources!!! Also thank-you to Bridgestone Tires for hauling the tires to the recycler for us! Great work on everyone's part!
