💙💚 A LITTLE HELP CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE! 💙💚

Calling all helping hands!

The Arc of Central Virginia could use a little extra muscle! We are looking for a few volunteers who might be willing to spare an hour or two to help us move some large, heavy items as we continue cleaning, organizing, and sprucing up our spaces!

Whether you're an individual looking to give back, a community partner, or a group of friends willing to lend a hand, we would be so grateful for your help!

⏰ Time Commitment: 1–2 hours one day next week

If you're available and willing to help, please send us a message or comment below, and we'll coordinate the details!

Sometimes it takes a village (and a little muscle 💪), and we're thankful to have such an amazing community behind us!

🧹✨ Cleaning Up, Clearing Out & Moving Forward!

We’re a little late sharing this one, but we couldn’t let it go without saying a huge THANK YOU to Patriot Junk Removal for being instrumental in helping us kick off our first Cleanup Day on September 19!

As part of our continued efforts to spruce up, organize, and make the best use of our spaces at The Arc, our team rolled up our sleeves and got to work and Patriot Junk Removal helped us tackle the BIG stuff! 💪

Creating clean, organized, and welcoming spaces makes a difference for our staff and, most importantly, the individuals we serve each day.

Thank you, Patriot Junk Removal, for partnering with us and helping us get this effort off to a great start. We still have more work to do, but Cleanup Day #1 was a success! 💙

💙 COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP IN ACTION! 💙

WHEN OUR COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER, EVERYONE BENEFITS!

At The Arc, we know firsthand the difference community support can make and we believe in giving back, too. 💙

Throughout the month of October, we are proud to join our community partners in supporting United Way of Central Virginia through a donation collection drive.

A donation box is located in our lobby, and we invite our staff, families, friends, and visitors to help us fill it throughout the month!

Community partnership isn’t just about what we receive, it’s about how we show up for one another. Together, we can make an even greater impact. 💙

💙 COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP IN ACTION! 💙

We are excited to share that The Arc of Central Virginia has been selected as the YMCA’s Give Back, Do Good recipient for the month of October! 🎉

Throughout the month, YMCA members will be collecting donated items to support The Arc and the individuals we serve.

We are incredibly grateful to the YMCA, its members, and our community for continuing to show up for our mission. Partnerships like these help us continue creating opportunities for inclusion, connection, and meaningful experiences for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

🤝 WEDNESDAY CONNECTIONS

Today we're kicking off a new Wednesday spotlight by celebrating the people and partnerships that help keep The Arc moving forward! 💙

A huge THANK YOU to Mary Carwile with Fire & Safety Company for working with our team over multiple days to make sure our staff completed their hands on CPR training. From our DSPs and program staff to leadership and administration, Mary worked with us to ensure everyone had the opportunity to complete this important training.

Today, our administrative team wrapped up the final practical session which means our entire Arc team is officially CPR trained!

We appreciate Mary for her flexibility, patience, and commitment to helping us keep safety at the forefront of the work we do every day.

Because strong community connections make a difference. 💙

A wonderful morning celebrating the incredible work happening across our community at the annual United Way of Central Virginia Awards Breakfast! 💙

We were proud to have The Arc of Central Virginia represented by members of our team from across the organization including our senior leadership, admin team, interns, and some of our amazing DSPs. 💚

There’s something special about coming together outside of our everyday roles to celebrate the people and organizations working to strengthen our community.

We’re grateful to be part of it and even more grateful for the team we get to do this work alongside every day.

We’re still coming down from the high of DSP Recognition Week! 💙✨

So today, we’re sharing a few more snapshots of the amazing DSPs who bring the heart, energy, compassion, and FUN to The Arc of Central Virginia every single day.

The special week may be over, but our appreciation definitely isn’t. 💛

Here’s to the smiles, the laughter, the teamwork, and most importantly to the incredible people behind it all.

❤️🎉 AND THAT’S A WRAP ON DSP RECOGNITION WEEK! 🎉❤️

What a week! We closed out our celebration with good food, lots of laughs, a few surprises and some great moments together.

Friday started with one of our DSPs bringing in a healthy breakfast snack for her coworkers ❤️, followed by our Directors getting ready to serve the people who spend every day serving others with a catered lunch. 🍽️

🎁 We also crowned our FINAL GRAND PRIZE WINNER so congratulations to Liz! 🎉

And somehow lunch turned into a spontaneous game of FINISH THE LYRIC…and let’s just say things got a little competitive! 😂🎤🎶

This week was about more than breakfast, survival kits, sweet treats, snack carts, lunch and giveaways.

It was about US. ❤️

Taking time to appreciate one another, laugh together, have some fun and celebrate the amazing people who bring our mission to life every day.

Our Management Team had just as much fun celebrating this week as we hope our DSPs had being celebrated!

To our DSPs: We see you. We value you. We appreciate you. And while DSP Recognition Week may be over, our appreciation certainly isn’t.
