The Arc of Central Virginia will be closed Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14 as our team comes together for our annual Staff Training & Development Days.

These two days give us dedicated time to learn, strengthen our skills, refresh important certifications, collaborate as a team, and continue building the knowledge and tools we need to provide the very best support to the individuals and families we serve.

We appreciate your understanding as we take this important time to invest in our team. We look forward to seeing everyone when we reopen on Monday, August 17!

💙 It’s Feel Good Friday! 💙

And what better way to head into the weekend than by celebrating some amazing community partners! 🎉

Christmas came a little early to The Arc of Central Virginia thanks to United Way and BWXT! 🎄🎁

Through BWXT’s Christmas in July giveaway, our Day Program received a generous donation of games, activities, and other fun items for the individuals we serve to enjoy throughout the year.

These gifts mean so much because they provide even more opportunities for fun, engagement, connection, and meaningful activities throughout the day. 💙

💙 Another Journey of Hope Visit in the Books! 💙

Last night, we had the pleasure of once again welcoming the cyclists of The Ability Experience’s Journey of Hope to The Arc of Central Virginia!

Each year, young men from Pi Kappa Phi chapters across the country embark on a cross-country cycling journey to raise awareness, build meaningful connections, and celebrate the abilities of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Since 2002, The Arc of Central Virginia has been proud to welcome the Journey of Hope to our community, and each visit brings plenty of smiles, laughter, fun, and new friendships. 💙

Thank you to the cyclists for spending part of your journey with our Arc family and to everyone who came out last night to give them a warm Lynchburg welcome!

We also extend a very special THANK YOU to The Ability Experience for its generous donation to The Arc of Central Virginia. We are incredibly grateful for your continued partnership and support of our mission and the individuals we serve.

We are SO excited to welcome the Journey of Hope team back to The Arc of Central Virginia tomorrow, Tuesday, August 4! 🎉

These incredible cyclists are making their way across the country as part of The Ability Experience’s Journey of Hope, building relationships, creating awareness, and helping change the way society views people with disabilities one community at a time. 💙

And when they roll into Lynchburg, The Arc is ready to welcome them! 🙌

Guess who's back?! And We're Moving The Arc Forward! 💙

You may have noticed we've been a little quiet on social media lately. The truth is, we've been busy behind the scenes.

Over the past several weeks, we've been planning, building, and preparing for what's next at The Arc of Central Virginia. As we continue strengthening our organization, our programs, and our impact, we're excited to officially launch The Arc Forward Initiative under our new leadership. This is a renewed commitment to moving our mission forward with purpose, collaboration, and innovation.

Happy Independence Day from The Arc of Central Virginia!

Today, as we celebrate our nation's independence, we also celebrate the values of freedom, opportunity, inclusion, and community.

At The Arc of Central Virginia, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live, work, learn, and participate fully in the communities they call home. That's what our mission is all about: creating a more inclusive community where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are valued, respected, and empowered.

❤️💛💚 Honoring Juneteenth ❤️💛💚

Today, The Arc of Central Virginia joins our community and our nation in recognizing Juneteenth as a day that honors freedom, reflection, resilience, and the continued pursuit of equality and inclusion for all.

Our offices are closed today in observance of Juneteenth. We will reopen and resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22.

As an organization built on advocacy, acceptance, and empowering every person to live a life of opportunity and belonging, we celebrate the importance of this day and the progress we continue to make together.
