Roads to Recovery

Roads to Recovery A Recovery Community Organization working to increase the prevalence & quality of long-term recovery. What is the Roads to Recovery Center for Recovery?

Roads to Recovery is a Recovery Community Organization, an independent, nonprofit corporation led by people in and supportive of recovery. Our goal is to develop and mobilize resources within and outside of the recovery community to increase the prevalence and quality of long-term recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction. Our strategies to achieve this goal include public education, policy a

dvocacy and peer-based recovery support services. Roads to Recovery is putting a face on recovery, and showing communities how recovery is possible. We are building services and supports to fill gaps in the system of care, and to help people initiate and sustain long-term recovery. Our recovery center is the hub from which we provide peer-based recovery support services and promote a positive culture of recovery from substance use disorders. Our staff consists of people with โ€œlived experienceโ€ of addiction and recovery who serve as recovery mentors and system navigators. They provide non-clinical recovery management services to help people:
1) improve health, 2) build โ€œrecovery capitalโ€ (internal and external supports that reinforce recovery), 3) actively manage their own recovery from addiction, 4) reduce relapse rates, 5) overcome barriers to access to needed services and supports, and 6) re-intervene quickly when problems do occur. Our services help people to increase their motivation for recovery, initiate recovery, support ongoing recovery efforts, and sustain recovery over the long-term. People can use our services before, during, after, or instead of formal treatment, depending on their needs and preferences. Services include informational supports, focused on skill-building and self-efficacy, instrumental supports, to help people gain access to other services they need, emotional supports focused on building resilience, heath and hope, and affiliational supports to reduce isolation, reduce stigma, provide models for recovery and promote a recovery culture. Our evidence-based recovery curriculum is the Living in Balance program from Hazelden. A unique feature of our Roads to Recovery Center is that most of our staff have experience as clinical service providers and choose to work in a peer-based model because of its practicality and flexibility.

๐ŸŽ‰ Happy 2 Years in Recovery, Will! ๐ŸŽ‰

We're going to keep the recognition going...today we're celebrating Will, one of the newest members of the Roads to Recovery team, on 2 years in recovery!

Will recently joined our Peer-Led Withdrawal Management Program as a Peer Coach, bringing lived experience, a willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to help others who are beginning their own recovery journeys.

Peer support is built on the idea that our experiences, even the difficult ones, can become a source of hope and connection for someone else. Will is still early in a new chapter of learning and growing as a Peer Recovery Specialist, and we're excited to have the opportunity to watch that journey unfold.

Two years in recovery is something worth celebrating all by itself. Choosing to use that experience in service to others makes today even more meaningful.

Congratulations on 2 years, Will! We're grateful to have you on the team and excited to see what comes next. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŽ‰

Please help us congratulate Will on this incredible milestone!

๐ŸŽ‰Congratulations, Devin!๐ŸŽ‰

We're excited to celebrate Devin on passing the Peer Recovery Specialist exam and becoming a CERTIFIED Peer Recovery Specialist!

Devin's journey at Roads to Recovery has included serving as a House Manager, interning at our Recovery Center, continuing to learn and grow in the field of peer support, and now preparing for the next chapter as a Recovery Corps Recovery Navigator with Roads to Recovery.

We've had the privilege of watching Devin grow tremendously along the way. The dedication, hard work, and commitment to helping others have made Devin a valued part of our team and our recovery community.

Becoming a Certified PRS is an accomplishment worth celebrating, and we couldn't be more excited to see where this next chapter leads.

Please join us in congratulating Devin, CPRS! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’™ Help Us Stock the WMP!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, our last WMP supply drive brought in some much-needed donations...and we're asking for your help again!

Our Peer-Led Withdrawal Management Program continues to serve individuals taking some of their first steps toward recovery, and there are a few everyday items we're going through quickly:

๐Ÿงผ Soap & body wash
๐Ÿงบ Laundry detergent

We're also looking for some of the things that make the days a little brighter and help Peers relax, connect, and simply pass the time:

๐ŸŽจ Art & coloring supplies
๐Ÿ–๏ธ Adult coloring books
๐Ÿงฉ Puzzles
๐ŸŽฒ Board games & card games

These may seem like simple things, but they matter. A puzzle at the kitchen table, a game with other Peers, or an hour spent coloring can provide a healthy distraction, create connection, and make an unfamiliar place feel a little more like home.

If you'd like to help, items can be purchased directly from our Amazon Wish List and shipped to Roads to Recovery or feel free to bring donations by our Recovery Center at 3000 Langhorne Rd. Every item donated goes directly toward supporting the people we're serving.

๐Ÿ”— Amazon Wish List: https://a.co/0hzHow9p

And if purchasing isn't possible, sharing this post helps too!

Thank you for continuing to show up for our recovery community. ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŽ‰ Happy Birthday, Bethany! ๐ŸŽ‚

Today we're celebrating our incredible Women's Program Manager, Bethany Cash!

Bethany brings so much heart to the work she does at Roads to Recovery. From welcoming women into our residential program to walking alongside them as they build new lives in recovery, she approaches her work with compassion, dedication, and a genuine desire to see others succeed.

She's also an incredible mom, a valued teammate, and someone who can always be counted on to show up for the people who need her.

Bethany's commitment to the mission of Roads to Recovery makes a difference every single day, and we're incredibly grateful to have her on our team.

Please help us wish Bethany a very Happy Birthday! We hope today brings you some of the same joy and kindness you give to so many others throughout the year. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŽ‰

Surviving an overdose doesn't have to be the end of the story.

Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose and save a life. But what happens after that life is saved matters, too. For some people, surviving an overdose becomes a turning point. The next step might be withdrawal support, treatment, peer support, recovery housing, a meeting, or simply a conversation with someone who understands.

We believe people deserve more than survival. They deserve the opportunity to heal, reconnect, find purpose, build relationships, and create a life in recovery that feels worth living. That's why connection after an overdose matters. A person may need many opportunities before they're ready for change. We don't know which conversation, which connection, or which moment will be the one that makes a difference.

So we keep the door open.

We keep showing up.

And we keep believing that recovery is possible. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ“– Our FY26 Annual Impact Report is here!

Recovery is about more than numbers, but sometimes the numbers help tell an incredible story. This yearโ€™s Impact Report offers a look at the people, programs, partnerships, and community that make the work of Roads to Recovery possible. Inside, we share our impact by the numbers, explain the Roads to Recovery model, look toward the future of our organization, and-most importantly-share the voices of people building new lives in recovery.

Swipe through for a few highlights, then visit our website to explore the full interactive report or download a copy.

Lynchburg's Got Recovery!...and we're looking for community partners who want to stand behind it. ๐Ÿ’™

We're officially 86 days away from Roads to Recovery's 2026 Gala, and we're continuing to welcome businesses, organizations, and individuals who would like to join us as event sponsors.

Sponsorship isn't simply about putting a logo on an event. It's an opportunity to publicly stand with people in recovery and invest in the programs, peer support, recovery housing, and community resources that help individuals and families build healthier lives.

We have sponsorship opportunities available at several levels:

๐Ÿ’Ž On the Road โ€“ Presenting Sponsor | $10,000
๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ On the Lane โ€“ Program Sponsor | $5,000
๐ŸŒฒ On the Trail โ€“ Venue Sponsor | $2,500
โžก๏ธ On the Way โ€“ Table Sponsor | $1,000

Each sponsorship includes opportunities for recognition, and every level helps strengthen recovery in our community.

On November 5, we'll bring together people in recovery, families, professionals, advocates, community leaders, and supporters for an evening celebrating something we see every day:

Recovery is possible. And Lynchburg has a recovery community worth celebrating.

08/10/2026

Knowing the signs of an overdose can save a life.

An opioid overdose can happen quickly, and recognizing what's happening - and knowing how to respond - matters.

Signs may include someone who cannot be awakened, very slow or stopped breathing, blue or gray lips or fingertips, pinpoint pupils, or unusual choking, gurgling, or snoring sounds.

If you suspect an opioid overdose, call 911, administer naloxone (Narcan) if available, and stay with the person until help arrives. If the person doesn't respond to the first dose of naloxone, additional doses may be needed.

Naloxone saves lives. Carrying it doesn't encourage substance use, it gives someone another chance to survive, recover, and build a different future.

Because an overdose doesn't have to be the end of someone's story. ๐Ÿ’œ
