New Rotary year means new leadership and here’s the grandest Rotary President of them all. Welcome to your new role, Yinka!

The Rotary Club of Amherst held their Annual Picnic at the beautiful Sweet Briar College Boathouse last evening. Outgoing officers were recognized and the Presidential gavel was passed from Father James Hubbard to new President Michael Mozingo. The best part was all the singing and the food was delicious too!

Speaker alert

Thank you Ashleigh Meyer, Executive Director of the Historical Foundation, for the fascinating retelling of Lynchburg’s history and role in the American Revolution. This Saturday at 10 a.m. the Bateaux Festival will take place at Percival’s Island. This will be particularly meaningful for this year as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country’s founding.

When students are recognized with scholarships, they put in the extra effort in college. Nice job!

We were thrilled to present scholarships to three local students at our meeting yesterday. These students have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and service to their communities. Congratulations on your achievements! We wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors! 🎓🎉
