A great Saturday morning of service on Boonsboro Road with the Rotary Club of Lynchburg-Morning! Our members came together for a community trash pickup, helping beautify our local roads and make a visible impact one bag at a time.

We were joined this morning by Carroll Moon, CEO of CloudFit Software, who shared his motivation to provide excellent products and services that in turn fund two charities: KidFit and JobFit. KidFit provides training and mentorship for kids through sports. JobFit develops the next generation of teenagers and young adults for careers in information technology. Carroll grew up in Pittsylvania County, worked for Microsoft then brought his skills and vision to Lynchburg. We are grateful to Carroll and his team for the job creation and development he has brought to our city.

Thank you to Allison St***za the Executive Director of CASA of Central Virginia for informing us about the good work of this organization and the need for more volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the court system.

Congratulations and a huge thank you to our Paul Harris Society Members Dr. Bob Sullivan (+8) and Judge John Cook (+4) who received pins in recognition of their generous support of the Rotary Foundation. This foundation is used for humanitarian aid efforts all over the world.

Last Thursday evening, members of the Lynchburg Morning Rotary enjoyed a wonderful social hour at the Waterdog Restaurant, filled with great camaraderie, laughter, and fellowship. It was a perfect reminder that Rotary is not only about service above self, but also about building lasting friendships and strengthening the bonds that help us better serve our community. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a great evening of connection and Rotary spirit!

Our president elect Burt Duren returned this week from a Rotary District 7570 and District 4640 friendship exchange in Brazil. Much can be learned and understood by just spending time with people from other cultures, different beliefs, and different backgrounds. Rotary hopes to build peace, friendships, and networks to help people throughout the world through such exchanges.

Morgan Kreutz from Amazement Square informed us of exciting new exhibits and community partnerships. They work hard to have new items each year so if you haven’t been in a while now is a great time to visit.

VP of TRU Ball/AXCEL Archery Benjamin Summers shared the successes and challenges of running this unique business creating high quality archery accessories that are used all over the world. Medal winning Olympians use their products! What a fascinating business that is based right next door in Madison Heights.

Thank you Sarah Quarantotto, Executive Director for Miriam's House, for presenting to our club about the shift in services to better serve our homeless families. If you want to support this terrific organization, they have a fun mid-winter walk coming up to raise awareness and funds for their cause.

Thank you Carl Mack with the Virginia Department of Health for training us on the Revive protocols to help us understand addiction and how naloxone helps stop an overdose. Many Rotarians left empowered with knowledge and Narcan to use if we encounter an overdose.
