It has been a busy week! Last Thursday we heard from Stacey Garrett, Executive Director with the Downtown Lynchburg Association and recognized Nicholas Meyer for achieving Paul Harris +1 (and gave “Dr. Bob” his correct Paul Harris pin). A lot to celebrate today at our meeting: Kim Soerensen was honored for her year of service as our club president, Paul A. We recently learned that our Welcome Newborns Global Grant to fund equipment for a second Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Antalya hospital was completed on June 27. This unit doubles the hospital's NICU capacity and will provide life-saving care for newborn babies for many years to come.

Thank you Ashleigh Meyer, Executive Director of the Historical Foundation, for the fascinating retelling of Lynchburg’s history and role in the American Revolution. This Saturday at 10 a.m. the Bateaux Festival will take place at Percival’s Island. We were joined this morning by Carroll Moon, CEO of CloudFit Software, who shared his motivation to provide excellent products and services that in turn fund two charities: KidFit and JobFit. KidFit provides training and mentorship for kids through sports. JobFit develops the next generation of teenagers and young adults for careers in information technology. Carroll grew up in Pittsylvania County, worked for Microsoft then brought his skills and vision to Lynchburg.  We are grateful to Carroll and his team for the job creation and development he has brought to our city.
