Chartered in 1917, the Rotary Club of Lynchburg is one of the longest-serving clubs among the 32,000 clubs now active throughout the world.

The club meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays for lunch at Acorn Hill Lodge and Spa.

🌎 Rotary in Action: A Visit from District Governor Charlotte Whitted!

Today, the Rotary Club of Lynchburg was pleased to welcome Charlotte Whitted, Rotary 7570 District Governor as our guest speaker!

Charlotte shared her areas of focus for the Rotary year and highlighted opportunities for Rotarians to expand their impact beyond their local communities through international travel, service, and fellowship.

We also received an important update on Rotary’s global efforts to eradicate polio. Today, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries where wild poliovirus remains endemic. Rotary’s decades of commitment have brought the world closer than ever to eliminating this devastating disease, but the work is not finished.

Charlotte also shared updates on Rotary membership around the world and the importance of continuing to grow our organization and strengthen our ability to serve.

At our most recent club meeting, Shannon Watts gave the Rotary Club of Lynchburg a great look at the many benefits of being a Rotarian today.

We talked about something that is easy to overlook: Rotary is so much bigger than our weekly meetings and local service projects.

From Rotary Fellowships that connect members around shared hobbies, interests and professions, to leadership development, professional connections, international opportunities, service projects and friendships that can span the globe, there are countless ways to get involved.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved in the community, meeting new people, developing as a leader or simply finding a group of people who want to make a difference, I’d encourage you to take a closer look at the Rotary Club of Lynchburg.
You might be surprised by just how much is waiting for you.

Today was a special day at the Rotary Club of Lynchburg as we recognized Kris Shabestar as a Paul Harris Fellow +1.

The plus one pin not only represents a commitment to service above self but also represents investing in the work Rotary is doing and in the lives that work touches far beyond our own communities.

Kris, congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. We are proud to celebrate you today and grateful for the example you set through your commitment to Rotary and to serving others.

The Rotary Club of Lynchburg was excited to welcome Chris Zabriskie to our club meeting, where he shared the fascinating history and incredible opportunities surrounding Rotary International Conventions.

Did you know the first Rotary International Convention was held in Chicago in 1910? And in 1921, Rotary held its first convention outside the United States in Scotland. From those early gatherings, Rotary conventions have grown into global experiences that bring thousands of Rotarians together from around the world.

Chris encouraged our Rotarians to consider attending a future convention not only for the outstanding educational sessions, but also for the incredible networking opportunities, fellowship, entertainment, and chance to experience Rotary on a global scale.

Rotary is much bigger than our individual clubs. We are part of a worldwide network of people who believe in Service Above Self.
