Yesterday, we canned our way one step closer to solving food insecurity - one deer at a time! 🦌🥫

Our very first Red Truck Ministry canning day was a HUGE success, with 553 cans of delicious venison chili made for our clients! That puts us on the road toward our goal of 6,000 cans. 🙌

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made the day possible:

❤️The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation
❤️Bedford Community Health Foundation
❤️Virginia Cooperative Extension
❤️Hunters for the Hungry - Virginia for the delicious donated venison
❤️Bedford County Parks & Recreation
❤️The volunteers from Monroe & Mackey Mason Lodges
❤️Society of St. Andrew
❤️And ALL of our incredible volunteers who chopped, cooked, canned, cleaned, and served!

This first canning event was made possible in part by a grant from the Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation, and we're already looking forward to round two in early December!

In the future, we plan to fill our pantry with soup, venison, and spaghetti sauce to help provide nutritious food for the families we serve.

553 cans down… thousands more to go! We're getting closer to putting a can-do dent in food insecurity!

Thank you for helping us turn generosity into something our neighbors can take home.

Some stories remind us why God calls us to love our neighbors and serve one another. ❤️

Meet Karen.

At 78, Karen has spent much of her life caring for others - raising and homeschooling seven children, working at a bank, and building a life for her family. Today, living on a fixed Social Security income, the food she receives from the Red Truck helps provide everyday necessities like milk, bread, and pantry staples.

But Karen’s story is about more than the food.

It’s about showing up.
It’s about loving our neighbors.
It’s about being willing to meet a need when we see one.

Karen says, “I’m just very thankful for the food I receive.”

And we’re thankful, too - thankful that God gives us the opportunity to serve.

At Red Truck Ministry we strive to live out that calling. Serving our neighbors with dignity, compassion, and love, one truckload at a time.

Because when we feed someone, we’re not just filling a pantry. We’re putting faith into action. ❤️

One truck. One neighbor at a time.

Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Dinah! ❤️

For 9 years, Dinah has been a familiar and loving face at Red Truck Ministry - and she hasn’t missed a single Wednesday since she started volunteering.

What keeps her coming back? The people.

Dinah loves the relationships she’s built with fellow volunteers, the families we serve, and the pastors who partner with Red Truck. She’s a true people person who loves meeting new faces, sharing a smile, and making sure everyone who comes feels welcomed.

Even though standing for long periods has become difficult, Dinah’s heart for serving hasn’t slowed down. She continues to show up, help however she can, and remind everyone around her what kindness and compassion look like.

When asked what she would say to the people who come to Red Truck, her answer was simple: “I love you. Come get what you need… now we gotta go pray.”

Thank you, Dinah, for 9 years of love, dedication, and reminding us that serving others is about so much more than what we do - it’s about the relationships we build.

Thank you for believing in what God is doing through Red Truck Ministry as we serve our neighbors with fresh food, prayer, and the hope of the Gospel. Your encouragement and partnership help us reach more families and remind people they are seen, loved, and never forgotten.

We're always looking for community partners who want to make a lasting impact. Whether you're a business, church, civic organization, or individual, there are many ways to get involved through volunteering, donations, sponsorships, or helping spread the word.

Together, we can meet both physical and spiritual needs while sharing the love of Christ throughout our community.

Behind every box of groceries is a person. A story. A neighbor. ❤️

Over the next few weeks, we're sharing stories from our friends and neighbors at McGurk House. Stories that remind us why we show up with the Red Truck.

The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank recently joined us at one of our distributions, taking time to listen to the people we serve and capture their stories through photography and conversation. We're grateful for their partnership and for helping us share the voices behind the mission.

Today, meet Cynthia.

Cynthia has been receiving groceries from Red Truck Ministry for years. With rising grocery costs and her SNAP benefits recently cut in half, the fresh produce and groceries she receives help stretch her budget and make a real difference.

“I don’t take nothing that I don’t need,” Cynthia says. “Leave the rest for other people.”

That's what community looks like: neighbors helping neighbors.

This is the Red Truck. These are the stories behind the mission.

“For I was hungry and you fed me...” Matthew 25:35

This verse is more than a Scripture we hold close - it’s a reminder of why we serve.

At Red Truck Ministry, we believe meeting a physical need can open the door to something even greater: relationships, prayer, encouragement, and the hope of Jesus Christ.

We serve because Jesus calls us to love our neighbors.
We serve because every person matters.
We serve because the Gospel compels us to show up.

This is why the Red Truck keeps rolling. 🚚❤️
