Sent With Love Motts Sending love to warrior families and their caregivers. We send HOPE! This stirred an idea in my soul. Please let me know if you’d like to join us.

My son was being treated for AML when I met many parents in the hall, family lounge, and in other parts of CS Mott Children's Hospital. During our stay, he was incredibly blessed by mail from loving friends and family and even strangers. When a recovering teenage friend was going thru very hard days, it occurred to me that mail could make a difference - even mail from complete strangers. We prayed

and our letters/small gifts made such a positive impact that we decided to share it with other families. I praise God for this idea to use one of my favorite activities - letter writing - to make a substantial difference in people’s lives. A special thanks to our members that have made this idea a reality. Our goal is to send SWL card and packages to each selected family year-round. -Jennifer

Mail day through the eyes of Warrior Families 💌

There’s something extra special about seeing these moments from the other side of the mailbox. From books picked just for their interests 📚 to LEGOs, little surprises, and favorite goodies, every Smile Sack is prepared with real families in mind. Our volunteer Jen puts much love, effort, and time into curating the perfect welcome/care package for EACH Sent With Love family. 🥹

Flipping through the daily mail, you spy a yellow envelope with a drawing and stickers on it. And what do you do? Maybe build anticipation by looking through the rest of the mail (it's all just bills and junk mail anyway), and THEN open that brightly decorated piece of mail.
Or let's be honest, why wait? 😅

WHY? Because studies show that if there's evidence that a human has touched a piece of mail, the brain naturally prioritizes it. In a world of automation, a handwritten piece of mail hits differently - it feels intentional and personal. Not just writing to the world, but to YOU. ✨

And that's why we do what we do: with the world at our fingertips and technology advancing so rapidly, human connection can quickly get lost. Warrior Families know someone thought specifically of them, not just a bot messaging or printing and sending something out at regular intervals.

This is what joy looks like! 🎨💛

Moments like these are why KidsFest matters. Because it's more than just face paint - we're creating happy memories that stay with Warrior Kids and their families long after the paint has washed off. Just one of the stations to bring joy and laughter, this event was a space for Warrior Families to be families, and create moments of “normal” during difficult journeys.

We are so thankful for Inside Out Concierge LLC. Their investment in KidsFest helps provide a high-fun, low-germ environment where families can laugh, connect, and make meaningful memories. We are incredibly thankful for Inside Out Concierge’s partnership in helping us celebrate and uplift Warrior Families.

We're gearing up for the next mailings in June & July! 📬

Our next themes include June as Father's Day & July as Christmas in July. We prepare mail a month in advance, and some months, like April, we prepare two mailings in one month! 😅

So, as we were evaluating our sticker collection today for the next few months, we realized we were low on Christmas & Father's Day stickers! 📉

Part of our personalized mail includes fun stickers, which many Sent With Love Warrior Kids say is their favorite part of opening our mail. Because our goal is to spread HOPE through every touchpoint, we include fun little things like stickers. Little extras create BIG smiles! 🥹

A little piece of Sent With Love history… 📸

Here we have one of the original SWL postcards. We've grown so much and do things so differently now! 💗

We were still learning how to tell the Sent With Love story visually. 💛 Interesting how we used the term snailmail. We were geared towards ONLY pediatric cancer patient families at the time. We used the name 'Smile Sack' for our curated care packages all the way back then! 😄

Something that has been baked into our ministry since the beginning is the goal to make every member of the family feel special and seen, all out of a desire to share God's love. Not only that, but just as you see that Jennifer Rice has written out a personal note on the postcard, we STILL prioritize personalization, personal contact, and spreading HOPE through every touchpoint. ⭐️

We started out just days after Jennifer's son was released from the hospital, sending mail to those who were in the rooms next door. What began as something small has blossomed into an impactful ministry. ✨

Today, we remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to others. Their sacrifice is a powerful reminder of love, courage, and the importance of showing up for people during difficult seasons. 💛

At Sent With Love, we believe small acts of care matter deeply. Through handwritten mail, encouragement, and support for Warrior Families, we hope to remind families facing pediatric illness that they are seen, remembered, and never alone.

As we reflect today, we are grateful for those who served with sacrifice — and for every person who continues choosing love, compassion, and encouragement in the lives of others. 💌

Did you know play is actually a biological necessity for kids? 🧒 👧 👦

Helping kids be kids and having time and space to play is essential in today's world. Because they grow up so fast anyway. It helps them develop emotionally, mentally, socially, and physically. It's not an optional part of growing up. And if there are heavy seasons early on in a child's life, it's even more imperative to promote joy and laughter. ✨

This is a huge reason why we organize KidsFest (with so many fun activities), initiate Brighten Your Day & Christmas In July hospital deliveries (gifts including fun little toys like LEGO), send monthly mail (jokes included), and more! Our goal is to promote maximum joy, encouragement, and laughter in each touchpoint. 🫟

And we want to help our Sent With Love Warrior kids to see that they deserve moments of play and normalcy. Especially because play can bring relief during difficult seasons. "A joyful heart is good medicine (Proverbs 17:22)." 💞

⭐️ As an update from last week's Givebutter giving bonus, we had 8 NEW monthly donors join us. Thank you, new monthly supporters! You are part of spreading HOPE and JOY to Warrior Kids! ⭐️

Look at what I (Jennifer) found! I was reading some old meeting minutes and came across this treasure. 😄

It was weeks before our very first KidsFest (at the time called Sent With Love Kids Festival), and ideas were flying! This board meeting was exciting because there was much to share -- we were brainstorming about ways to make KidsFest amazing, Ann Arbor Christian School agreed for us to use their wonderful building, Cherry Republic decided to donate for the third time (EVERYONE loves their cherry treats!)... AND we had just launched our website! Up to this point, we used Linktree. 🫟

Our website was created with a Wix template, and we were plugging in facts and photos to share the Sent With Love story. I loved reading Sheena's responses to my fun questions -- we wanted to show people that we're people who love making a difference, showing love through mail, AND that we're just regular people who have favorites and like to find ways to savor life. ✨

We've come a long way! Now we have an online support specialist who works hard to tell the Sent With Love story every single day. We have volunteers who actively find ways to serve -- including writing cards -- and demonstrate extra love to sponsored families. We've grown from three annual hospital deliveries to eleven! We are so thankful to donors and volunteers who make all this possible. My heart is full. 🥹

Saturday was filled with smiles, laughter, and unforgettable moments at KidsFest 💛

We had a variety of fun stations, including slime, reptiles, therapy dogs, a taco bar, yard games, painting, door prizes, and more, most sponsored by businesses and individuals. 🤝

We want to extend a special thank you to the partners who made KidsFest 2026 possible in a particularly personal way.

A Sent With Love Warrior family who's been coming since KidsFest started shared that this event keeps on getting bigger and better. They were so appreciative of everyone who volunteered at the event and sensed a genuine desire to be there and serve. The mom and the teenage daughters extended their thanks to and amazement at all the donors, and specifically the donated door prizes. Those sounded like the highlight of the event. 🤩

The joy, excitement, and connection were tangible in the smiles, hugs, and thrill of participating in the activities. For families in active treatment, this event allowed them to make memories with their family at a fun place curated just for them, instead of the hospital. KidsFest exists to celebrate Warrior Families and honor their journeys. 🥳
