Hi everyone, so far, we raised roughly $19,000, and dialysis units should ship by the end of this month. We need $11,000 so that Bridge of Life can start the training process, and the remainder will be used to cover operational costs for one year.
Haiti Relief Fund, Inc. is a public independent 501(c)3 organization founded by artist Carlo Thertus in 2010 after the earthquake that occurred on January 12, 2010. The purpose of Haiti Relief Fund is to provide both medical and non-medical relief to impoverished citizens of Haiti. This organization is working on this project in collaboration with both Bridge of Life, an independent non-profit entity created by Davita Dialysis, and Sodeth Hospital located in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti in an effort to improve dialysis access outside of Port-au-Prince. Currently, Haiti has only 17 dialysis units, over half of which are not functional. As a consequence, End Stage Renal Disease patients in Haiti are dying due to either lack of access or substandard dialysis care with shortened dialysis treatments to meet population demand. Our goal is to save more lives by providing eight more dialysis units that will be installed in Sodeth Hospital, which is located around 45 minutes outside of Port-au-Prince. Our Goal is to raise $100,000 total to complete the project at Sodeth Hospital. The amount raised will help fund installation, operations for at least one year, shipment of the dialysis machines and supplies, installation of machines/supplies/water treatment, and training of dialysis staff for six weeks by Bridge of Life to U.S. standards. In the future, our goal will be to strengthen dialysis centers within Port-au-Prince and install new healthcare facilities, including dialysis centers in remote areas of Haiti. Your support is greatly appreciated, and we at Haiti Relief Fund, Inc. thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
