Opossum release! These 9 opossums initially came in because they were found in someones house. Unfortunately they were not all found at once; so a special thanks to the finders for taking several trips as they popped up.

The finders actually had a great location for opossums, so they were able to go back to where they came from. I also want to thank her for providing the fantastic pictures!

Sunday was used to provide upgrades to a bunch of the raccoons. A huge thanks to Centre Wildlife Care for providing the large carriers. Here are a couple pictures of some of our raccoons to give you an idea of what we are working with. Hoping to be able to move some outside soon. Probably all of the GoFundMe money will go towards helping covering the cost of their enclosure.

A very big thank you to those who donated and purchased items off the Amazon wishlist. It helps a lot! The raccoon milk will used for sure

I wanted to make a video stressing how defenseless baby skunks truly are. It can be confusing knowing when an animal needs help, but for baby skunks its very simple. Baby skunks stay very close to their mother. If they are found without her, they need assistance. They will not survive in the wild without their mom.

At this age, they are able to spray, but they are unable to aim and shoot very much. They are usually found dehydrated and underweight, and often will not even attempt to spray.

It is important to note that they are a rabies vector species (RVS). It is best to contain them without handling or with using gloves. Do not handle anymore than needed to contain them, and do not feed them.

Over the last 3 years I've been able to release about 140 baby skunks back into the wild. Even though they are stinky, they are one of my favorites to work with.

Another 3 raccoons from Pittsburgh. I do want to give a shout-out to the people willing to do a 8 hr round trip, basically giving up their entire day to help these animals. Even with having to make that trip, they have all been very generous with their donations. I greatly appreciate them!

Also, yesterday someone awesomely helped a baby skunk found on the road; which unfortunately escaped in her car. This actually happens a decent amount with various animals. As I only lived a couple minutes from her, I was able to rush down and help her capture it. After a little quarantine time I will combine it with another single I have.

When I originally started my wildlife center in my home I decided that I would not be taking in raccoons. It was not based on an unwillingness to do it; I simply lack space inside and outside. Relative to their size, they take up an a lot of room.

The other issue with raccoons is the ridiculous amount of babies that are in need of care. Most centers around the state are closed to taking raccoons, including all of them on the western side of the state. So people from Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas are calling me because no one else will take their raccoons.

Simply put, now I have raccoons. I assumed I would end up with some raccoons, but I now have more than I was expecting. Raccoons are very expensive and will be with me for a few months. Their food, formula, medications, outdoor enclosure materials, and all other necessities quickly adds up.

I have decided to start a GoFundMe to help cover some of the cost of the raccoon care. Any little bit helps, and even if you are unable to donate, then simply sharing it would be greatly appreciated.

Anything off the Amazon wish list would also be greatly appreciated, if you would prefer to buy something direct.

I could also use any old clothes, sheets/towels, and newspaper. Those things can be dropped off in my front porch any time.

The skunks and other animals are doing fantastic!

Baby Cottontails! These little ones came in at about 3 days old after a dog found their nest. They were able to quickly recover and are now old enough to feed themselves.

Cottontails grow rapidly and will be completely weaned and releasable at about 3 weeks old.

Just as I remove all of my opossums off milk I receive another call about a mother opossum hit by a car with 6 babies. I was able to take a little trip after work to pick them up. They were a little roughed up with some minor injuries, but are now being warmed and rehydrated.

A special thanks to those that sent the opossum milk and other donations. Everything will certainly be put to use very soon. Very appreciative of any and all items that help with the animal care!

Skunks!
This time of year, many baby skunks are starting to venture outside the den with their mom. These little ones stay very close to her, so if you see a baby skunk alone, it may need help.

Outside of hibernation and nursing mothers, skunks typically move locations day by day. If a skunk is found somewhere unwanted, it will often leave on its own if given some time and space.

Please remember: skunks are classified as a Rabies Vector Species in Pennsylvania. Handle with care and caution:

• Avoid bites and scratches

• Avoid their saliva; do not feed

• Keep children from handling skunks

This group of opossums originally began as a group of 4 found in someone's house. But one by one more kept popping up and eventually 9 were found over a couple days. We are pretty confident we got them all now. Very thankful to the finders for taking multiple trips up here to reunite them all.

They were a little underweight but are beefing up quick. They do not like cleaning time.
