🧡🖤 LITTLE TIGERS GAME DAY PARKING UPDATE 🖤🧡

The Little Tigers Football Association Board is happy to share that parking arrangements for our upcoming home games at L&W Memorial Field have been finalized.

Overflow parking will be available at the Wiconisco Fire Company property located at 387 Arch Street, Wiconisco, across from the field, as well as Thompson’s Service Center behind the field. Families and spectators utilizing the overflow parking area are asked to please follow all posted signs and the directions of the parking attendants upon arrival to ensure vehicles are parked in the designated areas and emergency access remains clear. Please see the attached map so that the access to the helipad remains clear.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while the Board worked through this matter. Our priority throughout the process has been to ensure that appropriate arrangements were in place for our families, players, cheerleaders, volunteers, and supporters as we begin our home season.

The Board would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the legal and insurance professionals who provided their guidance throughout this process, as well as the members of our community who offered their support and assistance in helping us reach a positive resolution. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who continues to stand behind our organization and, most importantly, the kids we are all here to support.

With this matter now resolved, we are looking forward to putting the focus exactly where it belongs - on our kids, our teams, and a great 2026 Little Tigers season! 🏈📣🐯

Additional game-day parking information will be communicated as needed before each home game.

Thank you to our Little Tigers families and community for your continued patience, support, and commitment to our organization.

We look forward to seeing everyone at L&W Memorial Field and cheering on our Tigers! 🧡🖤🐯

🏈🐾📣 IT’S FINALLY GAME DAY, LITTLE TIGERS! 🧡🖤

Tomorrow is what all those hot summer practices, long evenings at the field, hard work, sweat, and dedication have been leading up to, the first games of the 2026 season!

On behalf of the entire Little Tigers Football Association Board, we want to wish all of our football players and cheerleaders the very best of luck as you take the field and sidelines for the first time this season!

To our players 🏈: get a good nights rest, play hard, play smart, trust your teammates, and most importantly, have FUN. Wear that Tigers uniform with pride and leave everything you have on the field.

To our cheerleaders: get a good nights rest, smile big, cheer loud, support your teams, and show everyone that TIGER PRIDE from the sidelines! 📣🧡🖤

And to all of our coaches, parents, volunteers, and families…THANK YOU!! The countless hours you give behind the scenes are what make days like today possible for our kids.

No matter what the scoreboard says at the end of the day, remember what game day is really about: our kids making memories, building friendships, learning teamwork, and being part of something bigger than themselves.

We are incredibly proud of every one of you.

Now go out there, have fun, make some memories, and show them what it means to be a LITTLE TIGER! 🐯

GOOD LUCK, TIGERS!
🧡🖤 ONE TEAM • ONE FAMILY • TIGER PRIDE 🖤🧡

🏈🧡🖤 Throwback Thursday — 61 Years of Tiger Pride! 🖤🧡🏈

This week’s Throwback Thursday takes us on quite a journey through Little Tigers history, from that very first year in 1965, to the cheerleaders on the sidelines in the 1980s, the building of the announcer’s booth in 1989, championship teams of the early ’90s, and even some of the old jackets and sweatshirts that were worn with so much pride. Looking through these pictures reminds us that while the uniforms, equipment, and faces have changed over the years, the heart of the Lykens Little Tigers has remained the same.

Generations of kids have stepped onto that field, stood along those sidelines, and proudly represented the Tigers and now another generation is ready to write its chapter.

With our 2026 game season officially beginning, Throwback Thursday will be taking a short break while we turn our attention to the kids making today’s memories. Games begin THIS SUNDAY as the Tigers hit the road and travel to Line Mountain to face the Eagles! 🐅🏈🦅

We hope to see our Tiger families and fans there cheering them on as we kick off another season of Little Tigers football and cheer. The old pictures will be waiting for us when we return, but for now, it’s time to make some new ones! LET’S GO TIGERS! 🧡🖤🐾

🏈🐯 THROWBACK THURSDAY — MORE THAN JUST A GAME 🐯🏈

There is something special about opening an old Little Tigers program and realizing you aren’t just looking at football history, you’re looking at a snapshot of our entire community.

These pages take us all the way back to 1965 and 1971, when an official game program could be bought for just 10 cents and Sunday afternoon meant gathering at the field to cheer on the Lykens Little Tigers. But look a little closer at these pages and you’ll find so much more than names on a roster.

You’ll find the businesses that lined the streets of Lykens, Wiconisco, Elizabethville and the surrounding valley. The grocery stores, barber shops, furniture stores, service stations, coal companies, restaurants and family-owned businesses that proudly placed an ad and wished the Tigers good luck. Some of those names are still familiar today, while others live on only in memories and pages like these.

In these photos you’ll find the patrons from families and friends who put their names behind these young athletes. You’ll find old team pictures taped right into the programs, handwritten notes, player rosters and names that still belong to families throughout our valley today.

And perhaps that’s one of the most beautiful parts of looking back.

The uniforms changed. The businesses changed. Generations grew up, raised families of their own and watched another group of kids take the same field.

But the heart behind the Little Tigers never really changed.

For more than six decades, this organization has been built by much more than the players who wore the uniform. It has been built by coaches, cheerleaders, parents, volunteers, local businesses, families and an entire community that believed our kids were worth showing up for.

So this Throwback Thursday, take a little extra time looking through these pages. See if you recognize a player, a cheerleader, a family name or maybe a business you remember walking into as a child.

Because these aren’t simply old football programs.

They’re little pieces of home. 🧡🖤

🐯 Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger.

🧡🖤 THROWBACK THURSDAY — THE VOICES BEHIND THE TIGERS 🖤🧡

This week, we’re turning our Throwback Thursday spotlight to the Little Tigers cheerleaders. To the girls who have been bringing the spirit to the sidelines for generations.

Looking through these old photographs, it’s amazing to see how much has changed. The uniforms have changed, the hairstyles have changed, the pom-poms have changed, and generations of girls have grown up and passed their place on the sidelines to the next.

But listen closely on a game day and you’ll realize something pretty special…

The cheers are still the same. The only thing that has changed are the voices. 🧡

Cheers that echoed across the field decades ago are still being called today. The same words once shouted by the girls in these photographs are now being yelled by their daughters, granddaughters, nieces, and another generation of Little Tigers.

Cheerleading has been part of the Little Tigers story almost from the very beginning. A 1967 article about the organization’s second annual awards banquet even mentions the Little Tigers cheerleaders receiving charm bracelets, and seeing one of those original bracelets still treasured today makes that history feel a little more real.

From simple sweaters and skirts to today’s uniforms, from pom-poms on the sidelines to stunts and tumbling, generations may change, but Tiger spirit has never gone out of style.

Somewhere in the memories of L&W Veterans Memorial Field are decades of little voices yelling those familiar cheers. Different girls. Different years. Same field. Same cheers. Same Tiger pride. 🐯📣

Once a Tiger, always a Tiger. 🧡🖤

Do any of our former Little Tiger cheerleaders remember the cheers they used to yell? Better yet… could you still do one today? 😉📣
