The filing period for public office is coming up soon, specifically if you want to file for a seat on the City Council for the City of Luverne you will want to keep the following in mind. The filing period runs from May 19, 2026 thru June 2, 2026 at 5 P.M. You can complete the filing form using the link here:

The City of Luverne leadership would tell us that the rate increases are due to increased power purchase costs. That is not the whole story, see the image as part of this post, City of Luverne leadership "LUV's" the Municipal Power "Advantage" so they can transfer 3 times national and regional average from the Electric Utility to fund their spending ambitions. Do not believe the "story" that rate increases are purely driven by increased power purchase costs.

Also with the latest increase Luverne's residential electric rate is 8% higher than Xcel energy customers in Pipestone, so do we really enjoy a price advantage anymore??
