International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons

International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons Present new, innovative and, often unpublished material and techniques or modifications in the field of Perio Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. P.D.

Over 30 years ago, Dr. Peter Nordland reached out to Dr. Preston Miller and suggested they meet to discuss similarities in root coverage surgery which up to that time had been considered impossible or at best unpredictable. They met during the American Academy of Periodontology’s Annual Meeting and shared differences and similarities in the procedures they were performing. Miller introduced Dr. Pa

t Allen to Dr. Nordland and they all decided to meet and share ideas about root coverage grafting. The meeting was so productive that they felt it would be a good idea to create a study group focused on regenerative surgery. They then invited some of the most talented and inquisitive clinicians of the time to also contribute. Little did they realize that the pendulum of periodontal surgical procedures was about to take a big swing into the regenerative and reconstructive direction. The interest and focus of the organization expanded as international surgeons and educators expressed an interest in participating. Over time, what had been known as the periodontal plastic surgery study club evolved into the International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons (ISPPS), and invitations to attend the annual meeting were offered to surgeon-educators interested in oral plastic surgery. Today, the International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons is composed of dental specialists throughout the world, most of whom are full-time clinicians and educators. The society meets annually the day before the AAP annual meeting to present new, innovative and, often unpublished material and techniques or modifications to existing techniques in the field of periodontal plastic and reconstructive surgery, aimed at improving overall esthetics to the benefit of patients long-term.

Irene and Bryan are pulling back the curtain on this tricky zone and sharing the exact playbook they use to crush these complex cases. You’ll walk away with:
* Smarter Case Selection: Knowing the exact green lights (and red flags) before you start.
* Flap Design Secrets: How to protect vascularity so tissue actually survives and thrives.
* Microsurgical Precision: The tiny adjustments that make a massive difference in your final outcomes.

THE QUICK DEETS

Have you checked your inbox for the July issue of ISPPS EDGE yet?

In this edition, our Platinum Partners at Elemental release eye-opening clinical and economic data that puts a spotlight on breakthrough research from our very own ISPPS Vice President, Dr. Shayan Barootchi.

We already know rigid protective stents are the gold standard for donor-site management after autogenous graft harvesting. The clinical data on post-op pain reduction is clear. But Elemental takes Dr. Barootchi's research and asks the question most clinicians overlook: What does making a palatal stent truly cost your practice when you model out chair time, labor, and materials?

It’s a sharp, data-backed look at how clinical decisions directly impact your daily practice economics.

This is what makes ISPPS EDGE worth opening every single time: real science, real application, and real value for clinicians who want to stay ahead of the curve.

Members, your copy is waiting.

If you’re not reading it, you’re missing the exact conversations shaping the future of our specialty.

This is what ISPPS stands for: excellence, collaboration, and a dedication to always pushing the field of periodontal plastic surgery forward.

If you haven’t opened your July issue of ISPPS EDGE yet, drop what you’re doing and flip straight to section 03!

Dr. Colin Richman just delivered a masterclass in our Mentorship Corner that every clinician needs to read right now:

"Beyond the Wire: Why Mentorship is the True Driver of Surgical Innovation."

Here’s a quote from the article that literally stopped us in our tracks:

“The ultimate clinical tool isn't made of titanium or stainless steel. It's the shared wisdom passed from one clinician to another.”

Think about that for a second. We spend endless hours discussing new technology, materials, and surgical techniques, but true breakthroughs happen when experienced clinicians pull back the curtain and pass down real, battle-tested wisdom.

That is the exact heart and soul of the ISPPS!

Founded on the incredible legacy of Dr. P.D. Miller, our mission has always been simple yet powerful: INSPIRE. EDUCATE. CONNECT. MENTOR. We are here to transform the future of regenerative dentistry and aesthetic surgery, TOGETHER.

Inside this month's issue, members get direct access to Dr. Richman’s Full Case Study & Complete Surgical Protocol, the exact step-by-step roadmap you can take straight into your treatment room this week.

Here’s the catch: ISPPS EDGE is 100% Members-Only.

We don't publish this for the general public. We create it specifically to equip our ISPPS family with an unmatched clinical edge, world-class mentorship, and a community of peers who elevate each other every single day.

If you’re ready to stop practicing in a silo and unlock the full case studies, surgical protocols, and mentorship inside the July issue, don't wait on the sidelines!

Seattle is about to change how you practice surgery forever.

If you’re content with "good enough," this isn't for you. ISPPS is built for the clinicians who are obsessed with getting better, refining their craft, and leveling up their patient outcomes. We’re skipping the basic theory and going all-in on high-level surgical mastery.

Mark your calendar for October 28th. Here’s why you need to be in the room:

The Real Drivers of Success: We’re dissecting deep, technique-driven strategies around blood supply, predictability, and advanced vascularized graft techniques.

The Mastermind: Dr. Navid Sharifzadeh is taking the stage to break down Precision Through Perfusion. Learning from him in a setting like this is a game-changer.

The Smartest Play: It’s timed perfectly right before AAP, turning your trip to Seattle into the highest-yield clinical investment you'll make all year.

Here’s the catch: We are keeping this room small on purpose. No fluff, no overcrowded lecture halls, just high-level training with peers who push you to be better.

Seats are moving way faster than expected, and once we cap it, that’s it. If you're serious about your growth, don't wait on this.

Grab your spot before it fills up: Tap the link in our bio or head over to www.ispps.org/annual-meeting

Come for the science. Stay for the shift. See you in Seattle!

Did you get a chance to open your July issue of ISPPS EDGE yet?

If not, you need to turn straight to page 5.

Dr. Mike Sonick drops absolute gold in this month’s Thought Leader feature: "TRUST BEGINS BEFORE TREATMENT: The First Five Minutes That Shape Every Patient Relationship."

Here’s the reality: patients are evaluating our practices long before we ever walk into the consultation room. They’re judging the feel of the practice from the parking lot, the reception area, the team's energy, and how everyone interacts.

Before you ever talk clinical strategy or surgical precision, trust has already been won or lost.

Dr. Sonick breaks down the exact mindset and practice standards his team uses to build immediate, unshakable trust with every single patient who walks through the door.

Articles like this are why ISPPS EDGE is quickly becoming the most talked-about publication in our field. But remember, this is a member-only perk. We built this publication specifically to give our ISPPS community an unfair advantage in both clinical excellence and practice growth.

If you’re not a member yet, you're missing out on the exact insights your peers are using right now to elevate their practices.

Don't stay on the outside looking in. Join the community and unlock access to the July issue today > https://www.ispps.org/membership
