Amanda Westermier Foundation

Amanda Westermier Foundation Relationships are a cornerstone value of the foundation. The late nights and all weekend rodeos provide cherished memories that all parents should treasure.

Relationships with friends, family, and the father have allowed us to maintain a positive attitude as we deal with this tragedy. Amanda was a fierce competitor with a will to win, but this was balanced with sportsmanship and a giving heart. Ironically, she was an organ donor and gave her heart to an African American woman and several other organs to individuals whom have become dear friends. The f

oundation strives to promote her giving spirit by supporting the Oklahoma Organ Sharing Network. This organization is driven by the hole left in our hearts after the loss of Amanda and the desire to make something positive come from this tragedy. It is our hope that this ministry will encourage individuals that face great heartbreak to find peace, hope, and positive change in the world. Every tombstone has in common
The day your born and die
But it's a subtle parity
That catches no ones eye
It is not about the day you came to earth
Or the date of when you pass
The tiny line between the two
Symbolizes all that will last
Your legacy and memory is in the way
You run the DASH

Please keep Dylon Holmes and Madison Holmes in your prayers. Dylon passed away this morning due to health complications. He received Amanda's kidney on April 26th, 2003. He was 9 years old. The first time I met Dylon he was still in the hospital when he receive his kidney. It was 14 years ago, today. He was so excited because he could drink Dr. Pepper again after getting the kidney. We have memories of him coming and staying at our house many times. He even spent a couple of Thanksgivings with us. I truly believe he was one to the strongest people I know. He battled health issues his entire life, yet he seldom complained and just wanted to live life to the fullest. He was even a volunteer firefighter. He took on many challenges with a positive outlook on life.
Our hearts are with this family today, as they are truly a part of our family. Lots of Love!

We never know how God will use us to make the world a little better place. Tragedy is a tool we can use to gain strength and wisdom, it is never an excuse to give up.
Spend time with the people you love because tomorrow is not promised. We love and miss you Amanda!

Mandy Westermier, a Wellston High School freshman, died in 2003, after an accident at the Heart of Oklahoma Youth Rodeo. Since then her parents, Greg and Tammy Westermier, of Luther, have watched as her organ and tissue donations have helped extend the lives of others.
