Sixth World Solutions

Sixth World Solutions For this reason SWS avoids “umbrella solutions” and replication of services.

Sixth World Solutions (SWS) combines experience, knowledge and expertise in a variety of Fields to create innovative solutions to socio-economic barriers that obstruct progress in Navajo communities. We provide services that help entities working in indigenous communities create and implement efficient and organized management systems that increase local autonomy and funding sources. Without a mul

ti-faceted approach, the barriers to reservation development will continue to impede progress and perpetuate systems of dependence, increasing the difficulty of implementing meaningful educational or socio-economic programs. Instead we aim to work within the budgetary and environmental boundaries of existing organizations while catering to the unique needs of every client. We have spent the past 10 years on the Navajo reservation as well as the international sector working uplift Indigenous lead solutions. We empower local voices that help us identify the vital needs and organizational deficiencies challenging community development. From this experience SWS offers services catered to the organizational needs of our clients. Whether the problems are managerial, funding, strategic planning, organization, program ineffectiveness, governance, or policy development, we can help. We offer subcontracting services to ensure that when we get an entity on the right track, they have access to the partnerships, resources and talent necessary for long- term success and planning.

we spent the weekend with some community members from the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park helping to test water sources that are used to haul water from.

Some community members have to drive over 30 miles to access clean drinking water, so we are really happy to be working with Dr Tommy Rock, -FEWSS University of Arizona and Dine College to help test the safety of closer water sources!

During the early phases of Covid-19, we spearheaded an initiative to provide water catchment systems to families across the reservation. We saw first hand the barriers families were dealing with trying to access clean drinking water.

Around that same time we learned about the Solar water filtration prototype the University of Arizona had been working on. We were able to learn about the systems, then build our own before deploying 4 across the reservation.

Since then, we have been working with those families, collecting their input and feedback to continue making a system that really works for our communities. As much as we care about "scalability", it's even more important to center the voices of the people most impacted by these technologies.

This summer we were at of Arizona continuing to build on our progress. We are really excited about future collaborations with Dine College and Northern Arizona University as we move forward!

For almost two years now we have been working with University of Arizona and its Indige-FEWSS - Indigenous Food, Energy, and Water Security & Sovereignty program along with Warriors on off Grid water filtration systems for local Dine families to better access clean drinking water.

There are organizations that would rush these kinds of technologies out but we believe it's important to really establish connections with our community members, listen to their feedback and continue to grow... and that's what we have been doing!

We continue to make improvements that will better suit community needs and hope that one day access to clean drinking water in Indigenous communities is commonplace.
