🗳️ WHAT ARE WE VOTING FOR?
ROBESON COUNTY
The November election is about more than just one office. From Washington, D.C. to our own communities, the people we elect make decisions that affect our families, schools, courts, public safety, taxes, and communities.
Here’s a quick guide to some of the offices you may see on your ballot:
🇺🇸 U.S. SENATE
Represents North Carolina in the U.S. Senate and votes on federal legislation, the federal budget, presidential appointments, and treaties.
🇺🇸 U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Represents your congressional district in Washington, D.C. and helps write federal laws, approve spending, and oversee federal agencies.
🏛️ N.C. STATE SENATE
Works with the House to create North Carolina laws and decide how state tax dollars are spent, including funding for education, health care, public safety, transportation, and other state services.
🏛️ N.C. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Also helps create state laws and determine how North Carolina’s budget and resources are allocated.
⚖️ N.C. SUPREME COURT
North Carolina’s highest court. It reviews certain appeals and makes final decisions on questions of state law.
⚖️ N.C. COURT OF APPEALS
Reviews appeals from lower courts and determines whether legal or procedural errors occurred in those cases.
⚖️ DISTRICT COURT JUDGE
Handles many cases involving family law, juvenile matters, traffic offenses, misdemeanors, and other matters assigned to District Court.
⚖️ DISTRICT ATTORNEY
Leads the prosecution of criminal cases in the district and represents the state in criminal court.
🚔 SHERIFF
Leads the county Sheriff’s Office and is responsible for county-level law enforcement duties, including the detention center, courthouse security, civil process, and other public-safety responsibilities.
📜 CLERK OF SUPERIOR COURT
Oversees the Clerk’s Office and performs important judicial and administrative duties involving court records, estates, special proceedings, and other matters handled by the Superior Court.
🏛️ COUNTY COMMISSIONER
Helps govern Robeson County by making decisions about the county budget, taxes, public services, infrastructure, and funding for county departments and programs.
🎓 BOARD OF EDUCATION
Helps oversee the public school system, including policies, budgets, school facilities, and other decisions affecting students, families, teachers, and staff.

Some races will be different depending on where you live in Robeson County, so you may not see every office listed here on your ballot.
Before you vote, look up your sample ballot and learn about the offices and candidates you will be voting on.
