By now, many of our friends and neighbors have seen or read the recent WDAM interview with Mrs. Jennie Hensarling that addresses the duties of a school board member. Mrs. Hensarling stated: βIt is incredibly important to have the pulse of the community, right? We are the voice of our constituents, right? They voted for us, and they have expectations of what it is that weβre supposed to do.β However, we are once again reminded that only certain communities and voters that meet certain demographics are being heard and their interests truly being represented. It has been nearly nine long months since the Concerned Citizens of Baxterville presented the board in its current makeup with a list of well thought out questions and concerns that we were told by Mrs. Hensarling (and this is recorded), βI will answer every one of [the questions].β She has since informed us that the board does not have to answer our questions. Yet, these individuals are supposedly a voice for the voters?
We have attempted everything in our own personal power to hold this current LCSD school board accountable. We have tried every βcorrectβ and legal method of communication. We have tried to make our voices matter as much as other areas of our district. Nothing is going to change unless you, our dear friends, get out and vote on December 2. Help us pursue the positive changes that we seek. Vote Johnny Johnson!
