Facebook friends and family, WELCOME TO OCTOBER!
It's that time again to focus on fundraising for the scholarship in memory of my sons, Thomas and Marcellus.
First, I would like to thank all of the generous donors who have contributed to the fund in the past 8 years. Twelve deserving students have benefited from your donations. I hope that many of you will decide to participate in this year's effort. Any amount will be appreciated and help deserving students reach their educational goals.
ALPHA-OMEGA FUNDRAISER
(October 2023)
The Thomas/Marcellus Blackmon Memorial Scholarship Fund.
“Bridging the Educational Opportunity Gap”
The Thomas Blackmon Memorial Scholarship was originally established in 2016 in memory of Thomas Eward Blackmon (Tomee). The scholarship aims to address the “opportunity gap” resulting from the chronic disconnection of some youth from educational opportunities.
In 2019, following the death of Tomee’s brother Marcellus, the name was changed to the Thomas/Marcellus Blackmon Memorial Scholarship Fund. For more information, visit the website - tmblackmonscholarship.squarespace.com
ALPHA-OMEGA FUNDRAISER is designed to focus on donations for the scholarship during October each year. This time frame includes Thomas’ ALPHA, October 1, 1982 and Marcellus’ OMEGA, October 22, 2019. (However, fundraising is an on-going endeavor and donations may be made at any time.)
All donations will be used to fund scholarships for students. Donors will receive a receipt by mail or email.
You may donate in several ways:
• Mail a check to The Thomas/Marcellus Blackmon Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 3839, Lumberton, NC 28359.
• Paypal - https://paypal.me/BlackmonScholarship?locale.x=en_US
• Cash app - $tmbscholarship
• Donate on the website - tmblackmonscholarship.squarespace.com
Students often lack the means to continue their education beyond high school. To help combat this adversity, the Thomas/Marcellus Blackmon Memorial Scholarship Fund seeks to help provide students with an opportunity to attend a two or four-year program of study.
