Today, the world lost a true original. 🦋
Just yesterday, I was standing outside the iconic Steel Magnolias house in Natchitoches. When I opened the Metairie office, Lindy made me record a video saying "I'm a chain!" even though I didn't get the reference at the time.
Dolly Parton will be remembered for the songs she wrote, the joy she brought to generations, and a personality that was unmistakably and unabashedly her own. But perhaps her greatest legacy is her love, hope, and compassion for others.
Through her generosity and philanthropy, Dolly showed what it means to use your success to make a difference in the lives of others. Her Imagination Library put books into the hands of millions of children and helped families discover the joy of reading together.
We are incredibly proud to sponsor Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library here in St. Charles Parish. Being a small part of a program she created to give children a brighter future has always been special to us. And even a little more so today.
The love Dolly put into the world will continue reaching children and families for generations to come.
Thank you, Dolly. We will always love you. ❤️
PLEASE NOTE: Our monthly newsletter was designed and mailed before the passing of the inspiring Ms. Parton. We had also already planned several events to encourage local families to register for the Imagination Library and to celebrate “9 to 5” month.
We intend to move forward with those plans, now not only as a celebration of the Imagination Library, but also as a celebration of Dolly and the incredible legacy she leaves behind. Her family has encouraged those wishing to honor her to support the Imagination Library, and we can think of no better way to do just that.
So, what would Dolly do?
She’d keep giving, keep loving, keep celebrating, and keep putting books into the hands of children.
We will do our best to keep that legacy going.
