Know Your Grower: Doguet's Rice Mill

Did you know? The rice in your boxes each week is locally grown & processed in Beaumont, TX. The family-owned farm & mill has a deep legacy and tradition in Texas rice farming:
The Doguet family’s legacy in rice farming began with their great-grandfather, Arthur Ardoin, in the 1920s. Guided by this tradition, their father, Darby Doguet, fostered their expertise in rice warehouses, seed rice business, and rice milling. In 1979, Darby founded Doguet’s Rice Milling Company, which blossomed into a full mill by 1981.
Today, Mike Doguet and Debbie Doguet Robbins uphold the legacy, joined by Debbie’s son Greg Devillier, who now serves as Vice President.

Great things happening in our sweet town. We were able to gift some much needed bread to Church of Annunciation- Wednesday Night Supper program. We love being able to support others food ministers in our community.

Maintain a connection to local farmers and their seasonal selections by participating in our Harvest of the Month program, a month-long dedication to a locally sourced item.

This month, we’re highlighting pears grown by Lightsey Farms of Mexia, TX.

Know Your Farmer:

Established in 1918, Lightsey Farms is a true multi-generational family operation now farmed by two sisters, Mary and Lisa Lightsey.

Rooted in community, the Lightseys seek to build long-term relationships based on the values of trust and confidence. Through their decades of experience, the Lightseys know that healthy farms, strong communities, and delicious fruits and vegetables are a combination of hard work, good soil, and good management.

HELPING OUR NEIGHBORS STARTS THIS SATURDAY.

Constable Paul Easterling is proud to announce that the Caldwell County Constable’s Office, Precinct 2 has partnered with the Luling Community Food Pantry to launch the PRECINCT 2 CARES Constable Canned Food Drive.

Beginning Saturday, August 1, and continuing throughout the month of August, we’ll be collecting non-perishable food items to help neighbors in need throughout Luling and Caldwell County.

Every donation received will be distributed by the Luling Community Food Pantry to help neighbors in need throughout Luling and Caldwell County.

This is more than a food drive - it’s an opportunity for all of us to come together and help our neighbors.

Help us make the PRECINCT 2 CARES Constable Canned Food Drive a success.

Every CAN Counts.

📍 Donation locations, suggested food items, and additional campaign details will be announced later this week.

Urgent Call for Canned Goods Donations

Good morning, Luling Community!

The Pantry is currently experiencing empty shelves, and we could truly use your support. We are urgently seeking donations of canned goods to help restock our supplies and serve our neighbors in need.

Our Current Needs

Canned Vegetables: Corn, green beans, carrots, potatoes—these are always appreciated!

Canned Meats: Chicken, tuna, spam, salmon

Easy Meal Options: Items like spaghetti in a can or other ready-to-eat meals

Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. Your generosity helps ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. If you are able to contribute, please consider bringing any of these items to The Pantry. You can call 830.875.2863 to arrange a time to drop off your donations.
