Its prime time for fall planting! August and September are great times for planting:

Leafy greens!
Smaller breeds of tomatoes still do great in Texas at this time!
Broccoli
* Brussels sprouts
* Cabbage
* Cauliflower
* Kale
* Collards
* Swiss chard
* Spinach
* Arugula
* Mustard greens
* Turnip greens
* Bok chow
* Carrots
* Beets
* Radishes
* Turnips
* Rutabagas
* Parsnips
* Onions
* Garlic

Try a mix of all or do a big batch of one to share with neighbors. Ask each neighbor to plant one type and each family will have a variety when winter comes. Look up canning and jar recipes to be prepared to preserve your leftover harvest into sauces and veggies for later!
