Public Awareness on Filling Out the Participation Form
PUBLIC AWARENESS, PLEASE READ.......

For anyone planning to speak at the Commissioners Court meeting, you’ll be asked to fill out a public participation form before the meeting starts. A lot of people don’t realize you do not have to put your full personal information on that form.

Here’s what you actually need to know:

✅ You must give your real name, it becomes part of the public record.
❗ But you do NOT have to expose your full home address or workplace.

To protect your privacy and safety, you can legally fill it out like this:

Name: Your real name

Address: “Lufkin, Tx, Resident” (full street address is NOT required)

Phone: “Prefer not to disclose” or “Email only”

Employer: “N/A: Not relevant to agenda item”

Organization: “Self”

If anyone asks why you’re limiting information, you can simply say:

“For safety reasons, I am providing only the information required for public participation.”

This is a public forum, and you have the right to speak without exposing yourself to harassment at home or at work.
