Today, both the boys and girlsโ High School Cross Country team competed at the 2025 GHSA State Cross Country Championships in Carrollton, GA. The boys raced at 2:00pm followed by the girls.
***Carrollton is known for having a difficult course with rough terrain as it is located in North Georgia and yet, our athletes did amazing! They fought the hills going up and passed SEVERAL athletes running downhill & across the finish line. ๐
Our boys came in 15th overall out of 24 other 3A schools. There were 168 runners in this category.
๐Senior, Trevor Kuchar, was our first Long County boy to cross the finish line. He came in 39th overall with an outstanding time of 19:01.
Sophomore, Isaiah Clark, came in 78th with a time of 19:58.
Freshman, Jamarcus Cole, came in 83rd with a time of 20:06.
Freshman, Asher Mannel, came in 84th with a time of 20:08.
๐Senior, Matthew Tewalt, came in 148th with a time of 22:29.95.
Freshman, Nicholas Rodriguez, came in 149th with a time of 22:29.97.
Junior, Alejandro Bonilla, came in 152nd with a time of 22:40.
Our girls came in 17th overall out of 22 other 3A schools. There were 154 runners in this category.
๐Senior, Macey Higgason, was our first Long County girl to cross the finish line. She came in 62nd overall with an impressive time of 23:39.
Sophomore, Mackenzie Spurgeon, came in 83rd with a time of 24:51.
Freshman, Madison Spurgeon, came in 102nd with a time of 26:00 flat!
Sophomore, Cayla Soule, came in 105th with a time of 26:08.
Freshman, Austen Alegria, came in 111th with a time of 26:35.
Junior, Kimberly Castillo, came in 118th with a time of 26:54.
Freshman, Lauren Whitman, came in 146th with a time of 29:17.
Both the girls and boysโ team competed in the rain today making for some slippery slopes scattered all throughout the course. ๐ง๏ธ
Once again, awesome job runners! You pushed through and rocked this challenging course!
