Auditions Announced for 4th Annual LACA 10-Minute Play Festival
LUDINGTON, Mich. — The Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA) invites actors of all experience levels to audition for its 4th annual “LACA 10-Minute Play Festival: Tales from the Stage,” taking place April 10–12, 2025, in the center’s Bob & Kay Neal Performance Hall.
Open casting calls will take place at LACA, 107 S. Harrison St., Ludington, Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 6–8 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 26 from 7–8 p.m. Directors Maripat Allen and Nicki Danyluk are seeking passionate and talented individuals to bring this year’s winning scripts to life. Numerous adult roles are available, along with a role for a teenage girl and two roles that could be played by a teenage boy. Actors of all skill levels are encouraged to audition. This year’s festival received submissions from more than 40 Michigan-based playwrights. The eight selected winning plays are: “37 Origami Bees” by Jacquelyn Priskorn of Troy; “Incident on the Golden Gate Bridge” by David MacGregor of Howell; “Wine DNA” by Erin Osgood of Brighton; “I Ain’t No Quincy Jones” by Marilyn Zerlak of Farmington Hills; “Mourning Dove” by Madison Dix of Manistee; “Mike and Amy and Dave and Diane” by Maripat Allen of Manistee; “Lobe’s Labour’s Lost” by Nicole L.V. Mullis of Kalamazoo; and “Goodnight, Prometheus!” by Ann Stofflet of Saline.
Rehearsals are scheduled to take place after 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday beginning March 9.
Performances will be April 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m., and April 12 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance, with a limited number available at the door for $30. Friday evening performances will include a cash bar hosted by LACA volunteers. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased at LACA or online at www.ludingtonartscenter.org
The LACA 10-Minute Play Festival continues to celebrate Michigan playwrights while showcasing the talent of local actors and directors. Community members ready to take the stage are encouraged to attend auditions and be part of one of the area’s most anticipated theatrical events.
