Nukewatch wants to see you next week at a Community Forum on nuclear energy in Minnesota, organized by Minn. State Senator Fatah Omar (62, DFL). The forum will include four advocates, two in support of and two opposed to lifting the moratorium on nuclear reactor construction in Minnesota -- followed by questions and testimony from the audience.
Minnesota's moratorium now allows construction of new nuclear reactors only AFTER a high-level nuclear waste site has begun receiving waste.
The four speakers from advocacy organizations will be:
- John LaForge, Nukewatch (opposed to repeal)
- Greg Laden, Center for Environmental Advocacy (opposed to repeal)
- Phil Hult, Generation Atomic (for repeal)
- Tova Anderson, Women in Nuclear (for repeal)
Please join us on Thurs., Sept. 3rd, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The forum will be in South Minneapolis, and location details will be emailed to attendees Wed., Sep. 2. Security will be provided.
Doors will open at 5:30, and the forum will begin at 6:00 pm.
