Well today I officially retired from the fire service, I signed my paperwork and turned in all my gear. Today marked the end of a 30 year chapter in our family's life. I had a few words that I wanted to share with some of the most important people in my life. To my wife you have been by my side all this time, l could not have accomplished what I have done with out you there, the missed family outing because of calls the many birthdays that went without me there because of academies and campaign fire. You have been the most supportive in all of these. I look forward to the next chapter in our life. Our boys have been a inspiration to me and I am so proud of the men they have become and the blessings they have given us ,our grandkids. To the people at Apple Valley fire that I spent so many hours with doing what we do so very well, keep fighting the good fight. To all the folks at SBC Fire, the last 12 years was a blessing I thank God for each of you, keep up the work you have done keeping the many communities safe. The people in the IEFEA, you all have been a blessing to me but more importantly a blessing to the many young people that have been thru the last 27 academies and leadership conference, this has truly made a difference in many lives that would not be possible without the dedication of each one of you. To my explorers, I encourage you to keep reaching for the stars , what ever you decide to do in life , do it to the best of your ability and with pride for a job well done. The paid call guys that I have worked side by side with, you are the heart of your communities , the giving in your heart is unmatched and I applaud your commitment to the job. Keep this in mind that the decision to retire was not one that was taken lightly and without a lot of thought. I wish all of you the best and even though we are no longer co workers we are still friends to the very end.
May God bless you all
Kevin
