I was alienated from my oldest 2 kids for most of their lives.
Tonight, we had a small graduation party for my oldest son.

This right here is proof that healing is possible.

It wasn’t always easy. In fact, for a long time, it was painful, bitter, and full of misunderstanding. We didn’t see eye to eye. We were two people trying to protect our own wounds instead of working together for the kids. There were hard words, broken trust, and more silence than peace.

But something changed — we grew up.

Time passed. Priorities shifted. And somewhere along the way, respect started to replace resentment. We began to see each other not as enemies, but as people who simply wanted to do better — especially as parents.

This conversation is a reminder: growth is possible. Reconciliation takes work, humility, and time. But it can happen.

If you’re in the middle of the storm, just know: it doesn’t have to stay that way. Keep showing up. Keep loving your kids. Keep the door open for peace. One day, this kind of conversation might be yours too.

Tonight, we stood together, proud and emotional, watching our son graduate. A big milestone. A huge moment. And we were both there for it — not because we’re best friends, but because we both love him more than anything.

Co-parenting doesn’t mean being best friends or agreeing on everything. It means putting the kids first, always. It means showing up, being respectful, and working together when it matters most.

We’ve had our ups and downs, like anyone. But moments like this? They remind us why we do it. For him. For his future. For every step he takes forward knowing both his parents have his back.

To all the co-parents out there making it work , you’re doing something amazing. It’s not always easy, but it’s absolutely worth it.
