Today we remember an officer and two firefighters who served with honor, protected selflessly, and made the ultimate sacrifice. We will never forget your courage, your commitment, or the impact you made on so many lives.

Grief is a precarious thing. It may change shape, but it never ends.

On this day, six years ago, time stood still as our department, along with Lubbock Fire Rescue, lost one of our own.

In the absence of Officer Nicholas Reyna, Lt. Eric Hill, and ultimately, Firefighter Matt Dawson, on this anniversary, we are especially reminded of the power grief can hold. However, we are also reminded of the beauty of being part of this community; specifically, the love and support shown in those first few moments and the many days after.

So, today, we vow once again: We will never forget their sacrifice. We will never forget their dedication. We will never forget their smiles. We will never forget them.

Thank you, Officer Reyna. We will take it from here. 🖤💙

Please reach out. There are so many people who would love to talk to you.

The holiday season can bring joy, but it can also bring loneliness, stress, or heavy emotions. Please remember to be kind! We never know the struggles someone else may be carrying.

If you or someone you know needs support, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7. A call or text to 988 connects you with someone who’s ready to listen.

You’re not alone. You matter. ❤️

📍***CRIME MAP IS BACK***📍

Our crime map is back and available to the public!

The crime map allows citizens to view criminal activity within the city limits. Reports can be filtered by crime type, location and/or date.

You can access the crime map by using this link: https://www.crimemapping.com/map/agency/735 or by going to the Lubbock Police Department homepage (www.lubbockpolice.com) and scrolling down to the “View Crime Map” button.

Don't forget, although officers may be actively responding to a call, it may not be immediately available on the crime map, and each crime report must complete the approval process before it can be made accessible to the public.

This is huge for the department! Absolutely love the opportunity this provides!

Today we remember Sergeant Joshua Bartlett, who was fatally wounded on July 15th, 2021, during a SWAT callout. Sgt. Bartlett was a beloved member of the LSO family, a strong leader, a mentor, and a friend. We work hard each day honor his legacy.
