Sons of the American Legion - Lubbock Post 575 The Sons of The American Legion exists to honor the service and sacrifice of Legionnaires. Are you eligible for membership?

All male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of The American Legion and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama and the Persian Gulf War, during the delimiting periods set forth in Article IV, Section 1, of the National Constitution of The American Legion, or who died subsequent

to their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of The American Legion.

In 1945 eager to witness history, the crew of USS Missouri perched wherever they could to watch the Japanese surrender ceremony. However, many Missouri sailors missed the proceedings because they were manning antiaircraft batteries in case there was a final kamikaze attack. ADM Spruance did not attend, likely because ADM Nimitz wanted someone to lead the Navy in the Pacific if the surrender ceremony turned out to be a trap.

Ghosts of the Battlefield is a nonprofit educational organization devoted to preserving the history of the American military from 1900 to present. Located in beautiful Virginia Beach the gallery is open to the public. Featuring many displays of artifacts and vehicles, we also offer identification and restoration services of military and antique weapons and equipment.

War stories are gratefully accepted and most cherished.
