Two weeks until the 24th Cowboy Symposium and the Parade of the Horse! We have several entries so far and everything is finalized for another wonderful event. The theme of this year's parade is "A Tribute to Cowboy and Cowgirl Entertainers" and the Maines Brother's Band from Lubbock is the Parade Marshal. They will be riding mules, donkeys, and in a horse-drawn vehicle. Representatives from the Quanah Parker family will be riding again this year, as well as, many riding clubs from the area, the Texas Tech Masked Rider, and a variety of horse-drawn vehicles. Please make plans to participate or attend this event on Sept. 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lubbock Civic Center. This parade is one of the few remaining equine-only parades in the country.

The cowboy symposium board met this evening. All the committees (the parade is just one of several committees) had positive reports. If you would like to volunteer to help with any National Cowboy Symposium event - please just let me know. One example is that on Sunday after the morning breakfast and service (the final event of the Cowboy Sympsium), there is a need to help breakdown and clean up.
